Default What Artist Defined Your Favorite Characer?

I posted about who people thought was the best writer that Marvel had. But this time I wanted to do a little something different.

I wanted to see what artist you think defined a character. Spiderman, Daredevil etc.. What Artist really captured their look and mood?

Joe Sinnott on the Fantastic Four. Above even Jack Kirby.

I’ll don the mask and wear the cape
If I am super, how can I wait?

George Pérez defined the Scarlet Witch for the 1970s and then he came back to re-define her for the 1990s.

John Buscema and the Scarlet Witch....he always drew Wanda so regally, yet SO badass! There’s a panel in this issue that is my all-time favorite shot of Wanda, but for the life of me I couldn’t find it anywhere!

Ross Andru on Spider-Man. That's my favorite look of Spider. He looks grown up.

    Buscema on Conan the Barbarian.

John Byrne on Uncanny X-Men and Fantastic Four.

Alan Davis for Captain Britain. No one else can make him look so fluid in action.

Jim Starlin for Mar-Vell. Gil Kane is a very close runner-up, but Starlin just takes it for having the more iconic stories.

I honestly don’t know who I’d pick for Spider-Man. So many artists shone with the character, but I guess I’d go with Steve Ditko.

For me, it was John Romita Junior during the 90’s of Spider-Man. If he was drawing, I was buying. To me, at that time, he was the definitive Spider-Man artist, between him and Mark Bagely.

But that could just be my nostalgia from the Clone Saga era talking. Big Ben Reilly fan here, lol. Also they were two of the prominent Spidy artists at that time too when I first started collecting so… probably a lot of nostalgia there.

    ^^^Upvote. Perfect choice.

I’ve seen Ditko mentioned a couple times in regards to Spidey, but his Dr. Strange defined the character, AND the look of magic AND the look of magical realms.

Yeah that’s true, I don’t think anyone else has managed to have the impact that Ditko had on Strange and his world.

    Kieron Dwyer's US Agent

Actually, because I got into Cap during the "John Walker/Captain" storyline, I'd add his Cap to that list too.

^^^It was pretty cool seeing some of that trippiness brought to life in the Dr. Strange MCU movies!

Oh, and Ron Lim - Silver Surfer, Thanos
