Top for me would be the Log Lady from Twin Peaks.
The very fact they were filmed just a few days before the actress died and the fact that her final scene is about death just hits hard.
    Such a great scene.

These 1st 4 ones hit me hard because the actor really passed away.

Leo the West Wing, John Spencer 1946-2005.
Paul 8 Simple Rules, John Ritter 1948-2003.
The Chief Gimme a Break, Dolph Sweet 1920-1985.
    Dot Eastenders, June Brown 1927-2022.

    the Rest:
    John Sheridan Babylon 5.
    Opie Winston Sons of Anarchy.
    Edit Bunker Archie Bunker's Place.
    Lance Sweets Bones.
Mark Green and Lucy Knight ER.
Shireen Baratheon Game of Thrones (The off camera screaming for help just got to me.).
& Chuckles the Clown Mary Tyler Moore (I'm Kidding).

I would hope anyone jumping into this thread understands there will be spoilers, so if there's ANY show you're saving to watch, I'd avoid this thread entirely. (in fact, I clicked without thinking and after I drop my list I'm not coming back because I don't want to accidentally see something) That said:
-- Harrow (Boardwalk Empire): I was making up scenarios in my head how he could have survived even though I knew he didn't
-- Ben (Scrubs): It was more about Cox than Ben, but that reveal is always a gut-punch
-- Joyce (Buffy, the Vampire Slayer): They intentionally made an entire episode just to make you cry.
-- Marshall's dad (How I Met Your Mother): Hannigan really sells it and Segal in the following episode drives it home.
The rest were random but for me, the #1 is
-- Wesley (Angel): Makes me cry every single time. "Would you like me to lie to you now?" ... "Yes."

That's it off the top of my head. I'm sure I missed some really good ones.

Hopefully this counts, but my choice would be Ashi (Samurai Jack - Season 5):

You know, for as little time the two had, I agree.

I also agree with Blake on MASH. And he wasn't even on screen either.

Definitely, my next choice would be Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop):

I'll go with Buffy's mom and Samurai Jack's wife.

The fact the cast wasn't made aware of the death until being filmed for the scene made it a truly powerful moment.

Yeah, this one hit hard. Jack finally completes his quest and gets back to the past. Then, instead of the butterfly effect taking hold immediately, they prolong it and allow them to spend time together, meet the family and get married - it was almost like being punished for completing the quest.

The majority probably won't agree, but I thought the death of Nagisa was truly a sad moment...

The Last of Us - planned suicide of the two guys over one's cancer. That was a heart breaker and so well done.

Lots of good choices in the other posts.

I'd like to add a few myself.

    Brian 'Otis' Zvonececk, Chicago Fire.

    Leslie Shay, Chicago Fire.

    From anime...

    Portgas D. Ace, One Piece

    Twice, My Hero Academia
