    Default The World's Greatest Super Heroes - JLofA

    Back in the 1970s, with issue #117, Justice League of America adapted a sub-title of "The World's Greatest Super Heroes" in its title.

    Based strictly on that sub-title, who would you think deserves membership in the current Justice League?

    Was Black Canary the only female on the team back then? That kind of shocked me. Also, that team is really white! Lol!

    It was 1975.
    The Justice League of America had maybe ten active members back then, and there weren't all that many non-Caucasian heroes in DC's then present-day ranks then. (Black Lightning would be introduced two years later, and John Stewart was still a back-up Green Lantern for Hal.)

    Yes, Black Canary was the only female member at that time since Wonder Woman was still on a leave of absence. Zatanna wouldn't become a member until 1978.

    And Hawkgirl would join a year before Zatanna.

    Here's where she apparently changed her name - from World's Finest Comics #272 (1981);

    Or how they were defining it back in 1975?

    While Marvel Comics were popular back then, they didn't have the same overall media presence as they do now.

    ... I think your having your own conversation?

    The prompt was purely "who should be in the JLA TODAY based on the "The World's Greatest Super Heroes" sub-title what 1975 and Marvel having nothing to do with it.
