Thank you! And I agree, I think writing Extraordinary X-Men hurt Jeff Lemire's reputation more than anything. I wasn't familiar with his writing at the time and wasn't really impressed by his run. Years later, I decided to give his creator-owned works like Black Hammer and Descender a try and found out he's actually a FANTASTIC writer... however he was so constrained during his time working for the X-office that he ended up producing mediocre work.

So I applaud Remender for knowing when to walk away from a project, although being a fan I hope he and Marvel find a way to make it work again someday. Oh and I still miss the Deadly Class TV show, that was a tragic loss

Definitely agree on being thankful rememender knew to walk away from a bad situation but at the same time it tells me the story would have happened anyway. So i thank lemire for his scaled back, stuck in limbo, showing what mpox was actually doing to mutants so marvel couldn't get away with "it was just a peanut allergy" the way lemire wrote that admitted mandate imho is why the x-men still exist with the power they do now. Someone else would have completely leaned in and made it look like the mutants deserved it or had to leave earth just because the gas irritated their eyes or made them itch. or completely rewrote it in a way that somehow they were the real thing that didn't belong and all terrigen was doing was cleansing earth.

Well played lemire, i will forever stamp your x-fan card.

That's really great to know about Lemire's own work. I liked some of the ideas in Extraordinary but it did feel very strangled. Listening to similar stories from other creators has made me a more forgiving reader in general.

I should check out Deadly Class!

Well that was indeed an ending. Given the circumstances, Tini Howard wrapped things up as quickly and neatly as possible. This happy, picturesque conclusion would have hit harder if Morgan had had the upper hand for most of the series. This mini felt like a Saturday morning cartoon, which I don't mean as an entirely negative comparison. Each issue was like an episode where the evil Morgan La Fey hatches a new, whacky scheme to take over the world and Captain Britain stops her every time. At no point was I ever convinced that the villain had a chance at succeeding.

For the time being I think yes, especially if they plan to utilize her connection to Otherworld/A/Coven over in Red. I’d like to see Claremont get a crack at her with her current status quo, but I don’t know if the x-office is ready to let him play in the current continuity sandbox.

It's also cannon that the Starlight Citadel is also a Nexus of All Realities... Think about it for a minute

It's crazy to me how much good talent Marvel was willing to waste on X-books KNOWING that they had limiting editorial mandates. Even looking at early to mid Decimation, both Brubaker and Fraction had very middling runs (despite having had critical success in other Marvel series) because they were constrained to such a limiting status quo. As much as we praise Hickman reviving the franchise during HOX/POX it's really such a change of pace because Marvel finally LET somebody do something interesting with the franchise.

That last Betsy message was pretty cringe.
I'm exceedingly happy that we can finally, HOPEFULLY, get her under a much better writer after some time has passed.
I can wait; I can be patient. But I can't take another writer who fundamentally misreads a character that badly.

It was really interesting to hear Hickman talk about how Marvel courted him since he didn't intend on returning on his Cerebro podcast episode. It seems he was able to negotiate a lot of control and runway for himself and the X-group of writers. For those who haven't listened it's a really good episode that you can find on Apple podcasts, Spotify, etc. (here's a link to listen on the regular web). It's mostly about Apocalypse so it's very timely with A's return and they talk about Betsy as Captain Britain and what not.

I still have no idea what Captain Avalon is supposed to be about.

Still no idea what Dr. Doom was doing here. But are we supposed to accept there was no fallout from his army of Doombots being taken out?

Morgan's new look is hot as hell. The white/green color scheme with the illuminated tattoos across her body and face? Mother!!

This was a cute ending and Braddock Academy coming back is really cool. Marvel can go ahead and green-light a mini where they're going against the Strange Academy kids.

Morgan's transformation is really interesting and I wonder what it'll mean for her going forward.

Totally here for a Braddock v Strange Academy showdown. I love a school setting and I hope someone really builds out the restored Braddock Academy. The more I think about it the happier I am with the ending. With Merlyn and Morgan currently dealt with and the Furies settled down, it can easily be said that Otherworld is experiencing relative peace for now which leaves Betsy open to do whatever. She could join the X-Men for a spell and she has the advantage of the Corps, a powerful family and STRIKE to share her other duties. Then once the X-Men roster changes again (as it always does) she still has her own role to return to. If T'Challa and Namor can be Avengers while also kings of their nations and Magik could rule Limbo while being on X-teams for years, they can do the same thing with our psychic butterfly doll.

Totally down for a Braddock Academy mini series.

Just make sure they have a good writer and artist.

It'll be interesting to see Betsy as Captain Britain with a better writer
