Found the Omnibus of the X-Wing Rogue Squadron & was wondering, why no one has made a movie based on that?

I loved the book series but in all honesty I haven't thought about them in quite a while. Not sure how I'd feel about a movie(s) about the property.

The X-wing comics and novels take place relatively soon after ROTJ and deal a lot with the Imperial leadership chaos afterwards, which has already been mostly covered in the Aftermath, Alphabet Squadron novels, the video game Squadrons and the Mandalorian Disney canon wise.

There was an X-wing Rogue Squadron movie actually in development for a time with Patty Jenkins involved but it got canned recently. Even had a reveal trailer with her dressing up as a pilot.


It probably would've been a totally original story, but using the group (The squadron itself is still canon, just not many of the events).

The only problem is Disney would screw it up in some very unique way

It's kind of interesting that the Rogues are really nothing special in the movies, they're merely the callsign for Luke's squadron during Hoth. The EU kind of built their legend, although the Disney stuff has largely focused on other groups such as Alphabet Squadron and Poe's team.
