I'm actually happy about Deadpool 3 shutting down, because from reports I read, Ryan Reynolds wasn't allowed to improvise on set. So I was worried the tone of the film would be rather flat. Hopefully, the Writers Guild and SAG both negotiate new contracts at the same time.
Something I read today was that extras who get paid $200 a job was starting to have, or would be starting to have, a clause put in their contracts for the studio to scan them digitally, and the studio would then be permitted to use their digital likeness in subsequent projects without paying them. Which must be a terrifying thought for a lot of people in the industry.
Yet some folks around here are happy about it and it's the future. Where nobody works. Sorry this is not Star Trek and even then folks still worked.
Well when you REALLY look at it-they are right to do that. What a very....militaristic approach!
And here is what folks don't get-nothing is stopping studios from buying shows from other countries.
The CW's Tuesday and Wednesday nights are shows from Canada.
Canada alone got enough shows that have never aired over here.
And is all that dubbing of voices union related?

Also looks like studios were trying to trick young bit part actors to sign away their likeness where the studio can use them for cg anytime and never have to use the real actor or pay them other than one time.
It didn't go over well with sag.
Plus, kris on campea show who is an actor in sag says hollywoods plan to "wait to make them lose houses and come back" will fail as "most writers and small actors have no money and are working other jobs also anyway". So, this move may backfire on hollywood!
I read something from a writer with several episodes each of multiple successful shows claim they regularly take out loans to make ends meet, and streaming was making the situation worse. "Wait for them to be starving" likely isn't going to work when they are already starving, which is why they went on strike in the first place.
Dark does not mean deep.
Saw this on Facebook.
The Studios who 30 years ago cried foul at people digitally copying their products, now want to digitally copy their actors and writers.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

The Streisand effect is an unintended consequence of attempts to hide, remove, or censor information, where the effort instead backfires by increasing awareness of that information. It is named after American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, whose attempt to suppress the California Coastal Records Project's photograph of her cliff-top residence in Malibu, California, taken to document California coastal erosion, inadvertently drew greater attention to the photograph in 2003.[1]
Attempts to suppress information are often made through cease-and-desist letters, but instead of being suppressed, the information sometimes receives extensive publicity, as well as the creation of media such as videos and spoof songs, which can be mirrored on the Internet or distributed on file-sharing networks.[2][3] In addition, seeking or obtaining an injunction to prohibit something from being published or to remove something that is already published can lead to increased publicity of the published work.
The Streisand effect is an example of psychological reactance, wherein once people are aware that some information is being kept from them, they are significantly more motivated to get and spread it.[4]
If this strike goes on long enough, the actors should boycott the awards shows. Embarrass the studio executives by forcing them to show an awards show with a mostly empty theater and almost no one to present the awards.
Watching television is not an activity.
