The "it didn't happen" and "it wasn't them" options don't seem viable.

The cleanest story would be that they get married again, and at some point remember what things were like before One More Day.

I can live with this because it doesn't erase the experiences they had together.

I like the idea of just having a separate timeline for stories where OMD never happened . . . but not merging the timelines. Doesn't even have to be an ongoing.

I don't think the timeline is really fixable at this point.

I hear you. I’ve got this parallel timelines thing in my head so that post-OMD isn’t fully retconned out of existence to be fair to newer readers, but there’s also a way forward where Pete and MJ didn’t lose all this time together the past 15 years.

Right. This was part of my thought process. It actually allows for storylines to be written where OMD never happened without fully erasing everything that has happened post-OMD.
