    Default Gimli vs Ash Williams

Gimli has his axe. Ash has his chainsaw hand.

As far as I know, they're evenly matched, since Deadites are just a little bit more durable than the average Orc. Ash seems to be unencumbered by his Chainsaw Hand, if his first fight with the Deadite in the pit in AoD says anything.

Can't Gimli just break the chain on the chainsaw rather easily? That would leave it as Gimli with an axe vs. Ash with a rather unwieldy club.

Ash has a horror movie chainsaw it doesn't get tangled up, break, or run out of gas.

Also, he's punched out people (and Deadites) with the chain off before.

Dunno if Gimli would be able to really analyze the thing coming at him mid combat.
