I will be the first to admit I’m shocked that the highest silver lining for me is how Carlos drew Gambit shirtless. I am always impressed at Carlos’s great understanding of superhero body proportions. A lot of artists struggle to draw interesting superhero proportions. I’m still a fan of the old large hands X-men era cause it was unique. I think Carlos is now on the Mount Rushmore of Gambit artists in my eyes up there with Jim Lee and Clay Mann.
As for the story I did actually enjoy the kitchen scene. It maybe missed a lot because I feel it was both rushing and draggin on at the same time from everything that happened.
I’m genuinely surprised we got almost no action in the entire comic run. What’s also interesting is we didn’t really get tons of dialogue either. The whole comic was just treading water and I’m not sure why they put this book out. I just don’t think this is a comic book series to be honest. Maybe it’s a YA graphic novel or something.
Overall I can’t say I will revist this comic for the story. Maybe to see the artwork in the future
We need to contact Marvel and demand Carlos Gomez’s talent be used for a Gambit run with more substance.
