For now most of them are just "What If" covers but it seems like there is the possibility that one or two of them might actually show up in later.

That's how Gwenpool got her start, of course. Was part of a variant cover series of Gwen Stacy dressed as other heroes, but was developed in her own character unconnected to Spider-Gwen.

BC tends to think they are Young X-men so most of these characters could be new mutants that idolize the Avengers etc.

Wait a second? These guys are real?! Like really? I don't know how to react. I wanted a new teen team book from Marvel, but I don't know if it was this. Gotta wait and see.

Looks interesting to me, especial the female Magneto and the kid with the old Iron Man suit.

Did they think Captain America was Kamala? They clearly didn't notice that the character designs are an exact match for the New Champions.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Erista or Nereel's unnamed baby appear in the modern age in some capacity neither are or can be considered to be "long lost sidekicks", but please feel free to correct me if I misunderstood the textual matter based on the thread title.

Marvel can’t seem to stop introducing new young characters while leaving the previous ones in limbo.
Can’t say I’m excited about a new batch after how they have handled the Avengers Initiative, Avengers Academy, YA and Champions casts. They have more than enough interesting characters without a whole batch of new legacies.

So Marvel is basically cooping the idea of the lost sidekicks from what DC did with Satagirl: The Lost Children, where Johns introduced an army of lost sidekicks of the golden age?

Pretty much. And thanks to Geoff Johns going off to Ghost Machine, I doubt a Young Justice Society book (that's the name of the team formed by the stranded in 2023 Lost Children) will be happening now. So Marvel's new group will actually see more development than all but two of the Lost Children (the main JSA book is using Salem the Witch Girl and Judy Garrick is currently starring in a mini with her Dad, Jay).

...I mean, some of the kids seem fun, but this seems doomed to fail.
