Azazel gets a lot of hate on these forums but I'm wondering, now with Dark X-Men, if he has any fans. I added a poll. Whatever discussion comes from this please remember to treat others with respect. This may be a hot topic.

I think it was probably better to start this poll once one or two issues of Dark X-Men had been published, as the writer clearly suggests that we will start loving his take on the character.

Not yet, but I've barely read anything with him in it, and I would have said I hated Scalphunter/Greycrow or Nanny & Peter pre-Hellions, and now I'm quite fond of them!
Movie Azazel was awesome.
616 Azazel is not good on multiple levels: the immortal hell dimension ruler and ridiculous Neyaphem daddy angle, being retconned into Nightcrawler's father, and the greatest sin of all: being a Chuck Austen creation.

I find him stupid and annoying but I look forward to Steve Foxe winning me over with his Azzy on Dark X-Men.
Big no. Austen's X-Men run was a dumpster fire, and Azazel came from the biggest igniter of that fire, the Draco storyline.
I don't want to walk in to the project disliking him, but his origin story felt really irredeemable. Long lost family rarely feels right. Nightcrawler already had the messy parentage with Mystique, meaning the Draco fam reveal was a repeat story, and so convoluted, I can't even deal. It felt like a step away from Nightcrawler being a mutant in the first place.
Queen of Mutants, Mistress of Magnetism, Magnetrix and the MII, Pestilence of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, the Krakoan Oracle and creator of the Sanctus Sacrum Tournament Key, the Threshold Seed Shaper, Brood Queen of the Fall of the House of X, Lorna Sally Dane, Ph.D., of the House of M, Polaris of the X-Men
Being portrayed as having sway over mothaf*ckin' MYSTIQUE!!! and actually being the one to inspire that name for her. Chuck Austen completely robbed her of her agency via Azazel, THAT what was most unforgivable. Mutant/Demon porn seducing her in a Church to boot. Barf! *not* Bamf!

I definitely don't like him but I'm very curious about what Foxe is going to do with him.

“Fleeing through the labyrinths with the hordes of the living dead fast upon them;
Once again they found themselves trapped in front of the abyss.”
I don't feel any kind of way but it never made sense to me. Mystique was already blue so why add a whole bunch of nightcralwer look alikes and eventual mini nightcrawlers i feel it made him lose a bit of his uniqueness which is why i feel mutants who look different greatly from human was better rare because it added something to those characters it was a place within a place. but once it became more norm and specifically when it became about his individuality among mutants it diminished it. But i do objectively get the idea of a mutant who was a religious priest being the son of a mutant demon, but it really didn't work for me why did he need to be exactly nightcrawler and the bamfs, though despite me i like the bamfs but it makes no sense why to me.
But then i'm weird i don't get the idea of secondary mutations. If they are human mutants i think of it like their inherent powers will always evolve and mutate as long as they are alive but in a trajectory or a moment that we see an extreme that still makes sense for their power type. alpha or omega all mutants powers should continuously grow or adapt to external threats introduced imo. Which is why the x-men are the premiere among mutants because their mutation is tested a lot.

Austen's ideas weren't all terrible but the execution was mostly terrible.
Azazel could be good with the right writer. I'm actually interested to see him used again.
The worst thing to me was Austen ruining Abyss from that whole thing. Talk about a character that had so much potential from the AoA.
I actually think most of Austen's run is unfairly maligned. It's better than most of 90's Uncanny.
That being said, "the Draco" and all associated characters are the big exception. Just mistake on top of mistake, none more so than Azazel.
