    Default The 100 Issue Club!

I wanted to create an exhaustive list of every DC title in history to reach 100 issues. So here it is (with year of debut). With all the renamings, renumberings, etc., it wasn't easy. But I think I did it. Any title currently using legacy numberings counts as a continuation of the original. Did I get it right? Did I miss any?

Don't forget the books originally published by other companies but now owned by DC - such as Shazam's first book, Whiz Comics. 154 issues (numbered 2 to 155, #1 was an ashcan).

Those two books both currently have legacy numbering which includes them - so I think they're included with the 1940s books.

    They’re technically different volumes.

I should have read the full OP. It says what you just said. My bad.

Cool list! Good catch getting both Scooby-Doo titles. At first I thought you missed Young Love, but then saw that DC only published #39-126.

    But what about Fables?

Also, it's not surprising how few titles from the 2000's and 2010's reached 100 issues, but what IS surprising is how few from the 1960's and 1970's reached 100 issues.

Yeah, some notables that haven't ever had a 100 issue run are Supergirl (1990s version lasted longest, but even that's only around 80 issues), JSA (late 1990s run also ended in the 80s), and Shazam (no run has even reached 50 except the Fawcett one).

2003 Teen Titans only made it by double shipping - would've ended on 97 or so otherwise thanks to New 52.

Not to get too technical on you--but putting on my Perry Mason Hat, "Your Honour, the Prosecution opened the door when he introduced 'all the renamings'"--there are some extra renamings to consider.

For NEW FUN--that was the original title of the original comic ever from National Allied--just NEW FUN. It then became MORE FUN. And it then became MORE FUN COMICS. Notice the naming convention here. The first ongoing title was NEW FUN and the second was NEW COMICS. The naming convention wasn't COMICS as it would become later, it was NEW. If the Major had followed this convention, we could have had NEW DETECTIVES, NEW ACTION. But they gave up on the NEW (even though that was the selling feature of their line) and they probably switched to MORE FUN to distinguish it from NEW COMICS.

BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT started out as LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT--that's the title in the indicia. Yes it has BATMAN on the cover title, but that's not how it was listed for the first 36 issues; with 37 it becomes BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT.

HOPALONG CASSIDY was acquired from Fawcett in 1953/1954 and began its National Comics numbering at 86 reaching 135. Since you've included G.I. COMBAT, HEART THROBS and BLACKHAWK which were all acquired from Quality and continued their numbering, I think I've laid the ground work for introducing Hoppy as evidence, your Honour.

ACTION COMICS became ACTION COMICS WEEKLY (601 - 642) before going back to ACTION COMICS--but it had already hit a hundred several times by then.

There are some THE, - (hyphen), and & uses that might have changed during a title's existence. SUPERMAN FAMILY was listed as THE SUPERMAN FAMILY (but other FAMILY titles didn't use THE in their indicia). Some comics had weird numberings at their beginning. For example, STAR SPANGLED WAR STORIES in its second go round starts at 3, so when it reaches its 100th issue and when it reaches issue 100 are two different things.

I have no more to add at this time, your Honour, but I reserve the right to recall this witness at a later date, if it pleases the Court.

Good point, 159 issues and counting. Originally Vertigo but nowadays it's DC Black Label. Do any other Vertigo books belong on the list?

A few series I like that didn't quite make it to 100: original Jonah Hex (92), Batman: Shadow of the Bat (94), and original Catwoman (94).

Nope, I browsed a list of all Vertigo titles, assuming Wiki is accurate.

I wouldn't mind adding those in with an asterisk.
