But I do agree they don't want an A-list Superman type. Their Superman inspired characters tend to eventually be antagonists.
Agreed. They push Carol Danvers a fair bit, because they've shat the bed so badly with what they've done with Scarlet Witch and Jean Grey and their creepy 'powerful wimmin be all crazy emotional and must be punished, humiliated and put back in their place!' nonsense.

Don't forget that they did the same thing with Sersi.

Marvel really does need a Wonder Woman, IMO. Too many of their female characters, Carol included, rely too much on their male counterparts or lack a distinctive origin.

Would Marvel have been better served if it's only Superman analogue ever was, indeed, a woman? Granted, this doesn't mute the point that most of women heroes are male derivative or somehow defined by men, but at least it gives that character potentially a fresh origin and powerset not linked to a Marvel male character.

But they didn't do that also with Carol and the whole Civil War 2?

I think they might be, so long as it's the archetype like Shazam or Blue Marvel

She wasn't crazyevil because of her great power, she was just wrong about something, same as Tony and Reed in Civil War 1. Not really a 'wimmin can't handle great power' riff, so much as a 'we need an event where our heroes go all Team Sparkly Vampire and Team Shirtless Werewolf, because we've given up on hero vs. villain stories and settled for a never-ending series of hero vs. hero events.'

But she went pverbpoard arresting people because she says so! Her image was left really damaged and mostly about that event has been sweeped under the rug and never mentioned again.
Like a lot of the story of Carol. Jinkies, that woman has a lot of story under the rug.
