Default It. Was. Not. A. Mutant. Massacre.

Did a few characters die? Yeah, 4-ish. Cannonball, Jubilee, Prodigy, Dazzler (maybe - some level of self-resurrection previously established). Iceman? Nope. Jean? Probably not. And the aforementioned cannon fodder will pop up as soon as the Five are back “online”.

The whole “massacre” angle is coming from Xavier arrogantly assuming all the gate-walkers are dead just because HE can’t hear them.

I get the theme, the X-Office has been recycling all the old crossover titles. But, this wasn’t close to a massacre.

    Not the Frenzy erasure. V.V

But I wouldn't want a 1:1 comparison anyway, having it not be a complete massacre feels more organic, since they are forcing so many powerful mutants to be more passive than they should.

Depends. To the characters in the story it was a massacre as it was a verb to them and happening and they don't know what happened to many thousands of mutants. To us as observers the definition doesn't have a specific number but the act of it still fits. So does it really depend? I don't know.

It's being called a "mutant massacre" by Orchis and their propaganda arm because they framed mutants as having massacred the human Gala guests. That's why the term is used on the front page of the Daily Bugle, followed by "Hellfire Gala Turns Deadly - Krakoa Blamed."

If they call this "the second mutant massacre", which one are they not counting though? That of the Morlocks or that of the Genoshans?

Though given that Genosha was a full blown nation and it's destruction should have made major worldwide headlines (while weirdly not having massive impact on international media, economy, politics, military strategy, etc.), while the Morlocks were mostly a new yorker urban legends, it's likely the later which aren't counted.

You do realize ORCHIS is using that verbiage to get humans to hate mutants more? They are saying it was a massacre caused by the mutants.

Since per the HFG there were no human survivors.

It was a mutant massacre but not how you think. It was a massacre of humans perpetrated by mutants. Thats how Duggan explained it

Separate from the in-story explanation of this being a massacre perpetrated by humans...

Very few named characters dying while tons of cannon fodder characters are (presumed) dead is definitely a Mutant Massacre.

The original Mutant Massacre crossover is literally famous for, despite the name, only killing off two characters that existed before the event, both side characters (Annalee and Piper). There is not a more fitting way to recycle this old crossover title.

Also, if Cannonball IS an External, he's gonna just revive soon.

Duggan is trying to claim that the Massacred Humans was the Mutant Massacre...see... you get it....you get how smart that is...you get it?..........sigh. lol. I really am enjoying myself at this point.
If you are going to refute, you need to do your own research.
