    It's a reference to Aaron's Thor run.

What's interesting here is that its an early Batman. I wonder...is this pre or post JLA?

Yeah, I think most people have forgotten (or are unaware) how diverse the early Batman stories were. Yes, you had a few straight-up crime/detective stories. But you also had vampires, monsters, biological warfare and a would-be dictator with a laser doomsday weapon. There weren't any aliens of course...but then, the Silver Age was loaded with 'em

    I guess that's a Thor reference.

Compare it to Morrison's first JLA arc with the white martians
I think that by street level people usually mean grounded and a bit more realistic stories. Some criminals taking over the entire city ain't really that.

Mahnke yes. Strangeness yes. But maybe it's typecasting... I just feel like Aaron is gonna do a BBQ flavored Batman and that clashes for me lol

I didn't really care for the preview that was in books this week, it just seemed kind of generic to me.

Well, Batman vs Aliens is a very Aaron approach.

It also looks like he'll be romancing a Tamaranean which is funny on several levels.

Dick's not the only Wayne that can get chummy with a Tamaranean .

I like how this is going so far. Aaron's reputation of doing minis has been good ngl. Punisher and Manifest Destiny and now this comic. I wonder if Aaron only ever thad the idea to only do God of Thunder for Thor. Nothing more

I picked up both issues not expecting much .
So far after 2 books it's not bad at all . A bit far fetched even for Batman and the art by Manhke is like from the good old days .
