    Default Jean Grey #1 Preview

Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

Weezy’s voice for Jean is perfect, and Chang’s images are vibrant and engaging.

Here’s the official article, with some words by Weezy:

The article says Jean Grey #4 is coming out Nov 15th, which is notable since Immortal X-Men #17 is out Nov 22nd, much later in the month than usual. Definitely seems that it's being set up for #4 to flow right into Immortal.

    I overlooked a page:

Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

I am hopeful for this. Simonson has never written Jean as perfect or even right, but always strong enough to make it through all the drama she made for Jean, or stronger for it.

edit: that extra page changes everything (maybe) and I did find the preview confusing before seeing it.

Like the art, and i have the answer for you Jean. Put the tk shield around yourself next time.

On a more serious note the preview must be out of order because it's confusing. the o5 have to be in the past because xavier is there but they have on the clothes they had on in the modern era and jean seems compelled to keep her memories so i am at least intrigued on how she loses them and if she never did i don't even know.

I love this line: “I was born in death.” 🤌🏻

And here's the solicit for JG #4:

Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

okay i get it now. they are leaning in on jean being the nexus of all realities so what she is actually doing and why it went pink imo is she was seeing what the future would be like if she didn't take away their memories so this will be more like a what if but she may be able to change something.

Yep, Jean "being born in death as a mutant" is when little Annie Richardson died in Jean's arms and Jean's TP traumatically awakened.

The splash page has current Jean at the center. So it is her memories. The scene in the past (with the O5 just returning) is her reflecting on what happened. It will just be the first of several scenes we see Jean rewatch and maybe get some new information that changes things (retcons) like several other 'Legends' stories did.
