I am digging how Venditti flips which set of parents has survived into Superman’s adulthood. Glad to see them show up here and be acknowledged. That said… this book is lacking in a sense of narrative weight compared to the first volume. Everything is so decompressed and doesn’t give Clark much in the way of inner narration to slow things down. Plot is also a little too simplistic and straightforward, it’s a bunch of nice character moments but nothing more so far.
Funnily enough Venditti does have him almost reveal himself again! I dunno, I personally don’t want that. I feel like this incarnation of Superman should never get to marry Lois, him having bungled that relationship All-Star style feels more fitting.

That's Donner Superman filtered through the lens of the Post-Crisis sensibility.
I’d say moreso in line with Morrison sensibility honestly. It’s very Everyman+, you bring the girl you like to meet your folks, but your folks are aliens from another planet who have been miniaturized, live in a bottle, and you have a whole secret identity you don’t know how to share with your girl.

"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"
"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"
"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."
Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

Hit me that part of the reason Venditti teased the Bizarro World version of Bizarro is because Nuclear Man basically is the clone version of Bizarro with a different name.

You mean Nuclear Man 1? That is a bit of info few people know about.
