I like all of these characters. I didn't vote for Tex and his buddy or the Crimson and his buddy or Hop or Gary, because I haven't read enough of their strips to have an opinion on them. There are some other favourites I can think of from this period, but maybe they'll show up on the next poll.

I believe The Flash and Hawkman were both on news stands in 1939, FWIW..

Before this topic, I did not know Hop Harrigan briefly became a super-hero called the Guardian Angel--also the Black Lamp. In what issues did he become either?

Apparently Hop briefly became Guardian Angel in 1941 (ALL-AMERICAN #25-28) and then the Black Lamp in 1945 (ALL-AMERICAN #78).

Went with Doc Occult, Rose, Superman, and Sandman.

Surprised to see that Batman is trailing behind Flash!

Also, Alas, poor Ultra-Man! Not a single vote as of this writing! But that's not too surprising I guess. Not a very well-known character! And unlikely to ever get a serious revival, especially with TsuPro's Ultraman being increasingly awarded the title of the One True Ultraman - which I support.

Superman leading the pack here so far! Followed by the Flash (Jay)!

It's surprising that it's a race between the original Superman and Flash. I would have thought that Batman would be in the lead. I guess his Bat-tery powered running shoes aren't what they're cracked up to be. Har har.
