I wasn’t going for a beat by beat parallel, just suggesting that some of the elements (or similar ones) may apply to MJ’s predicament and maybe Lowe was giving some vague hints as to why things are as they are or future developments.

I find it interesting some of the readers mindset with Paul. A dude who canonical did nothing wrong yet they want him to die in the most brutal way possible.

Like... hes just as innocent as those other dudes in the tunnel lol. In fact probably more so. Its like such a thing thats antithetical to spider man but come between him and MJ and the goblin side comes out I guess.

The problem is Paul is barely a character and his only role at this point is to exist and represent some of the least popular elements of this run.
