Awesome! Hoping 2023 will be an active year for Namor's buddy, The FireBug
More of the Human Torch's first appearance from
Marvel Comics #1 (October 1939):
to be continued . . .
I'd like to see a maxi-series written by Christopher Priest, with a really good artist. telling tales from his original era, mainly.
The majority probably won't agree, but I'll always be partial towards Hammond's revival & subsequent Avengers' membership

So even Johnny's catchphrase came from Jim. Didn't know that.

Yes. The Original Human Torch is indeed THE original. Johnny was recycled for the then more contemporary audience.
That said, both Human Torches now have redefined powers that are far beyond the original specs. Both of them are now more like tiny suns than they are oxygen-dependent flames. In that respect they kind of both put Firelord out of business. No "Power Cosmic" needed.
one of my favorite characters. Wish we'd see lots more of him. Preferably in a larger role in current comics, but i'm always down for some WW2 stories, with or without the Invaders.
I knew a lot of stuff about Johnny was just copied from Jim, I just didn't know that included the Flame On catchphrase. And yeah, they've certainly diversified now. Jim's powers are closer to Firestar's nowadays (being radiation based but having the appearance of fire). His sidekick Toro was diversified by revealing him to be Inhuman (given he was previously stated to be a mutant, they should make him a hybrid like Kamala), the reveal of which came with a flame colour change. And Johnny as you say has become much more powerful over the years, to the point of being able to maintain his flame without an oxygen source. He never did have the problem Jim started with where he'd automatically ignite in the air though.

I find it amusing his REAL NAME is Human Torch and his ALIAS is Jim Hammond
I'd like to see some flashback stories back when he actually had a secret identity as a police officer. Like a Year One story. Who else knew his secret besides Toro and Dr. Horton?
from History of the Marvel Universe #2 (October 2019)
I was introduced to the original Human Torch in Namors old book back in the 90's and quickly took a liking to him.
