so, what unsolicited revelation will Teen Jean pluck from someone's brain this time around? Just curious.

She will realize that everyone who doesn't lust after her must be gay and she won't even need telepathy for that.

Jean is dead and will only have just resurrected in December, Warren is dead and will only just have resurrected in December, Bobby is the least jaded X-Men active currently, Scott is crippled and imprisoned will only just have been broken out in December. Beast is 100% lost as is.

Pretending they are embarking on some terrible mistake together in December which lead to the 05, and the 05 specifically ruling the world is asking a lot from continuity. Really trying to make a circle fita square hole to provide an excuse to bring the 05 kids back.

It’s truly infuriating how many great artists there are out there and Marvel is still giving Land work with his godawful porn tracings that haven’t evolved past the 2000’s.
Emma Frost, Rogue, Felicia Hardy, Helena Bertinelli, Allison Blaire, Barbara Gordon, Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, Illyana Rasputin, Ororo Munroe, Harleen Quinzel, Lorna Dane, Irene Adler, Kate Kane, Rachel Grey Summers, Jean Grey, Diana Prince, Barbara Ann Minerva, Donna Troy, Jennifer Walters, Gwen Stacy, Wanda Maximoff = PERFECTION!

It's not. This is an alternate reality one-shot. An aged Jean (who merged in her reality with the PF instead of being replaced) uses her powers to drag the 616 Original 5 to her reality to fix things. And somehow one of the O5 will get left in 616 present. Cuz that makes sense, but will also SHAKE THE MU TO ITS CORE!!!

As a team or set of characters?

As mentioned before, there is a case to be made that the fandom at large, what ever it's the small comic readership or the overall audience of all X-men media, doesn't have a strong attachment or interest in the 05 as a team, nor are their stories considered "must read" classics.

However as a set of characters, they are indeed quite popular. Or at least most of them are.

Scott and Jean are major faces of the X-men brand (though it could be argued writers have struggled with finding a longterm role for Jean without going back to the flaming cosmic chicken over and over). Beast and Iceman managed to cement themself as popular secondary characters that adaptations also frequently add sooner or later. Only Angel really has a problem being interesting or relevant to writers and readers alike.

But in their original team lineup they just don't seem to catch many people's interest.

Perhaps it's a percieved "mark of shame", that one of Marvel's modern flagship titles and set of characters didn't start of as breakthrough hit right away, which motivates these attempts to make the original team version "happen" in order to validate their stories and beginnings?

The O5 line-up feels very editorially mandated, but it's nice to see Gage work with the X-Office again. Between his work on WWH: X-Men, Avengers: The Initiative, and Avengers Academy, I'd love to see him eventually get an ongoing featuring some of the younger mutants.

I love getting more Jean, but I'm over time displaced 05 multiverse stories. I get this is for the anniversary, but they could have just told a cute story and kept it moving.

Land reusing stuff from Phoenix Endsong is hilarious.

For me the biggest issue is the time displacement. A story set in the past, or one with the modern iterations of the O5 would probably be a better story.

    Might be Beast....

    IS THIS TEEN TONY AGAIN?!
I mentioned the similarity too several pages ago. And just like in that story, somehow teen Beast becomes the actual Beast and everything is magically fine.

I wonder if Percy has switched to having this be the resolution to the Beast problem he created. It nicely avoids the problem of just 'resetting' the bad Beast to his Avengers self without any sort of punishment.

I am saying in the overall grand scheme of things. The future of what happens after the fall seems unexciting IMO. I do realize this is a one shot and maybe be a filler title. But it all feels like they are trying to get feeler issues out there to see how the crowd reacts in buying the books. Thus start new titles that was received well.

It would be kinda cool if young Beast is the one to stay and he teams up with X-Force to take current batstuff crazy Beast down. I think the timing works?

The timing does work. If this issue comes out in December. Percy begins his big Beast story in January.

Also, I prefer Beast when he's furry. Not to mention the time paradox of the past Beast staying in the future permanently.

I’d be fine with the 05 having their little moment if Marvel had done a bit more to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the franchise across the board. The things I’ll remember from 2023 X-Men are too many Sinister’s and depressing ass FoX.
