Im interested in seeing what it looks like after a year. 2 years.

But ill be buying for sure.

Honestly I just want a mature Spidey that actually wins fights.

I'm not sure what to expect from Hickman on a romance/relationship front.

Okay, would make sense with what he wrote.

Still, even if Bendis liked it, that doesn't mean that Hickman will be using it in his Ultimate series, though.

I wonder if the costume shifting in the trailer implies some kind of multiverse thing or form changes.

Maybe he can tap into the powers of other Spider-Men from across the entire Multiverse?

Might be some way of showing that these events have already happened to him or are going to happen to him?

Not sure how old Hickman is going here.

If this Spidey is around 38 like Peter B in the Spider-verse movies, he'd be a millennial. Actually born the same year as the original Ultimate Spider-Man at the time of his debut

When the original ultimate spider-man series was running people flocked to it because the 616 book was crap

Seems like it’s gonna happen again! Definitely buying day one.

I’m taking it to imply that 6160 Spidey has a history. See I think that instead of Peter getting his powers in the “present” as an adult, DoomReed is going to time travel back and give him his powers as a young man - but he will also warn Peter about the Maker and how he needs to keep a low profile. I think Ultimate Peter is going to be the oldest/most experienced hero of this universe, making it canon that he was the “first” hero in the way 1610 Peter was the first hero in a meta sense. So 6160 Peter has had a ton of adventures just like Spiderverse Peter. He wore the black suit, got cloned, time traveled to 2099 and met Miguel, etc.

I wil pass on the whole married/single debate that some love to discuss to death, like that is the only aspect about spider-man worth speaking…
What really caught my eye was the costume changes during the trailer. That is fascinating. Could they be , after starting with Peter , establishing more than one spider-man? One with the black suit? A Ben Reilly one? The must puzzling was the appearance of 2099 suit? I’m definitely in! In Hickman I trust

I dont even consider myself a purist(few of them do lol), i just want to see Peter being well written and stories and characters making sense. I enjoyed Spencer's run a whole lot because, for all it's storyline faults, he was, IMO, a better character writer than Dan. I felt the character wasn't constrained.

If 6160 Peter is married, single, with or w/o MJ or Mayday, i don't really care as long as the stories are good. The Wells run sucks because it has a lot of nonsensical character beats, undercooked concepts and, my personal biggest gripe, SO MUCH misery porn. I just can't take sad-sack Spider-Man anymore. My own life is hard enough, why suffer this boring vanilla dude who can't figure his life out if it meant getting out of the metaphorical wet paper bag?

So, though i am very much interested in the relationships and romances of Spider-Man, at the top of my wishlist for this one is Hickman putting the Heroics back in the Super-Hero comic book, make Spidey aspirational, inspiring, Odds-Defier etc.

If the Ultimate Spider-Man is going to be successful, then it has to be Peter Parker. Regardless of Miles Morales, Miquel O'Hara, Ben Reilly and all the other Spider characters over the years, Peter Parker is synonymous with Spider-Man. There's just no getting around it.

Also, think about the premise behind this new Ultimate Spider-Man being a "mid-life" take on the character. Every version of Peter Parker as Spider-Man that has ever been done always depicts him as a nerdy teenager who, despite his excellent grades and intelligence, is either ridiculed or bullied by his peers, when all he wants is to be popular and go out with the prettiest girl at school. Then he gets super powers courtesy of a spider bite. Thus Spider-Man becomes a metaphor for adolescence and a coming of age story. Even if we see a Spider-Man who is already an adult and an established hero, it's clear that his backstory is more or less identical to what I just laid out.

But a Peter Parker who is already an adult in his late 30s, early 40s? Who believes that his dreams are being crushed by everyday living, doesn't feel he's accomplished much in life and realizes he's not getting any younger? Who, in spite of his intellect and talents, wound up in a job he hates and who's marriage--if he's lucky to have actually gotten married at is--has lost all the spark and romance it once had? And then for that Peter Parker to get bitten by the radioactive spider? And on top of that, potentially learn that this was supposed to have happened to him when he was fifteen? That's something new, and a unique way of examining Peter Parker as a character while still retained the overall message of "With great power, there must also come great responsibility." That's what helps it stand apart from being just another take on Spider-Man that we've already seen.
