From what I understand, only the original Avengers had proper secret identities were backed up by public authority figures. Cap theoretically answered to the US government and Iron Man's cover was being Tony's personal bodyguard. So even if their identities weren't known to the public, there was at least someone who could be trusted to hold them to account. Bruce's identity eventually got outed and Thor had Donald Blake but as far as most of the world knew he was just a thunder god and went off to do whatever gods do when he wasn't fighting evil. Janet didn't conceal her identity and maybe Jank didn't.
That's a lot different from a random person answering to no one while hiding his identity.
He used to be married. He isn't married anymore. Therefore, he's divorced.
It may not be how he consciously remembers it, but that's what happened and it's what he subconsciously remembers. That he doesn't consciously know the truth only makes him more of a worn out mess.

Then I don’t see how he’s not portrayed in a good light. A joke or two at his expense because he has a bit of a gut doesn’t counteract that he’s able to infiltrate a super science lab, escape from a battle with a version of Doctor Octopus who’s extremely effective and dangerous, contributes to Miles becoming a great super hero, and manages to repair his damaged relationship with his ex-wife.

Peter B. Parker has undoubtedly had his story make him a cool dad to his little girl, and given him back a happy marriage, while proving to be, yes, a successful mentor; his adventures in costume and single life while divorced seem to still have roughly the same success and failure rate as any "conventional" single Peter.
Yes, the current comic Spider-Man doesn't come out of a comparison with Peter B. looking good, and arguably, neither does most of the OMD era versions of Peter either. They ALL, Peter B. included, have ups and downs and "cringingly" sad moments, and all at their lowest are aiming for "lovable loser" vibes...
...But where they diverge is that Peter B., partially as a multiverse version of the character and partially because he's explicitly supposed to be older and more experience dot contrast with Miles, has his "ups" include being married to MJ (twice) and having a daughter, two things that are completely off limits to comic Spider-Man at the moment.
Interestingly, Peter B. can theoretically have his home life 100% in order and happy as a contrast with him getting beat down in costume, or being a dork in general - which lets some audience members like myself healthily compartmentalize the two sides of his character. That is not the case in the current comics.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?
I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP
The key differences between Peter B and OMD Peter...is that while Peter B started off in a rut...he managed to get out of it and put his life back together. You can start a character off being down and out...but it's important that the character eventually triumphs in the end. OMD Peter however started in a hole...and keeps getting into even deeper ones. 616 Peter at this point is a pathetic wretch that is just sad to even see.

Peter B spent 15 in-universe years being a pathetic wretch. Most of it off camera. It's easier for time to pass off camera. To equal how bad he's screwed everything up, we'd have at least 30 years of realtime loser Spider-man to even come close.
Be honest, how big of a fit would you be throwing right now if Spider-man was running around looking like a homeless guy with a pot belly? Then I don’t see how he’s not portrayed in a good light.
