Marvel is trying something new here. This is the first time they are doing a different edition of the same comic that is meant for more mature readers.There will be Red Band editions that will contain additional pages and more graphic art that is too explicit for the regular edition.

As much as I trust MacKay, this still doesn’t feel like something that needs to be an event. Could it not just work in the main Avengers title?

Or a collaborative crossover between the Avengers and Blade titles, pulling in only whoever absolutely needed to be pulled in and with tie-in minis or one-shots separate from the regular books those characters appeared in already.

I get the event thing, it's how you get more readers on it and more readers means you can make some status quo changes for a couple of years

I actually like that they are going this route. Blood Hunt is shaping up to be a fun event from the look of things.

Is it an event or just a mini series? We've gotten so accustomed to Marvel (and DC) making EVERY LITTLE IDEA an event with 478 crossover specials and separate mini series that we feel like everything gets staged that way automatically. I hope Marvel doesn't start doing all that for this. Maybe one or two specials would be ok, but I would definitely prefer this to be it's own little contained story. if it crosses over into one or two specific titles like Moon Knight or Blade...so be it, but it definitely doesn't need to be an EVENT.

1) Red Band is a pretty ingenious marketing idea

2) If they kill off Tigra, I’m gonna go all red band on Marvel Editorial (figuratively of course).
