Turned out in Karla Pacheco's Spider-Woman run, in the issues tying into Devil's Reign, she'd just been locked up by Osborn for years when she regenerated from the kill shot he gave her at the end of Secret Invasion, and "Mayor Fisk" found her and sicced her on Jessica when Jessica started busting up his operations.

Is it just me or does anyone else feels like that guy from A Clockwork Orange when he's strapped to the chair and has his eyes forced open, because that's what these Spider-verse events have reduced me to. First one was odd but ultimately fine but every thing after is just torture.
