It looks like the Illuminati are using the same tactic that hickmen's avengers did when thor and hickmen's hyperion was on the team.
Use hulk as a distraction/softern thanos up and his team the black order when they invaded earth.

Yeah, instead of Thor and Superman, err, Hyperion, Thanos is going to battle Hulk and Superman, err, Blue Marvel (as some see him as a Superman pastiche).

Do we really need to buy this issue to know how this ends?

Thor/Hulk = last man standing, but Thanos pretty much smokes them.

Hyperion/Blue Marvel = Get injured and take a knee.

Everyone else is just fodder.

Hulk is not in issue 1 but he is in 2.
He is not shown in issue 3 on the cover however.
Did thanos knock him out in issue 2?
Maybe he was used as a distraction since he is highly aggressive and is going after monster types.

I was correct about issue 2.
Anyway it's interesting that ironman was able to blast thanos out of his chair with his energy blast but silver surfer blasted thanos sitting in his chair in the 1990's and it did nothing.

My only gripe was I felt that the Illuminati could have planned or fought better. All of these characters are experienced and have exhibited leadership at some point. There seemed to be a lot of scrambling this issue. Granted they pulled off some amazing accomplishments, but still I was thinking they could be a bit more in charge.

Still, I got Thanos shooting stuff and punching stuff. That's good enough for me.
