Default SAG-AFTRA Reaches Tentative Agreement With Studios, Ending Actors Strike

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/bu...ms-1235607563/

After a grueling 118 days on strike, SAG-AFTRA has officially reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract with studios, a move that is heralding the end of the 2023 actors’ strike.

The SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical Committee approved the agreement in a unanimous vote on Wednesday, SAG-AFTRA announced. The strike will end at 12:01 am Thursday. On Friday, the deal will go to the union’s national board on Friday for approval.
I hope the actors got a good deal.

Reading a nearly fact free article on this on the Beeb, I was as I say unable to find out any terms of the deal save one disquieting one; the length, which is only three years. Meaning this might happen again soon.

Would have been over 4 days ago but studios refused to let go of free ai.

SAG-AFTRA says their new deal, valued at $1 billion, includes…

    • A streaming participation bonus

    • “Above pattern” minimum compensation increases

    • Substantial increases for pension & health caps

    • Pay increases for background actors

    • Contract provisions protecting diverse communities

    • Major provisions for consent & compensation from AI.

Well, that sucks. Only 3 years? I think that's partly why the MCU has had problems because of covid and strikes

I hope negotiations begin on the next renewal time by January. No need to wait until the last minute.

Marvel and DC should fast track their next run of projects.
