I love that they're working Monk's take on covid into it.

If I could pick one show that would never get canceled it'd probably be Monk

I read an article months ago on how BBT’s Sheldon might have been written if the show had still been on during the pandemic, and thought of Monk and how he’d react.

My late grandmother loved the original series. She was a huge fan of Mr. Monk's quirky habits and resulting bizarre crime-fighting adventures. She was, however, a bit disappointed with the resolution of the series-long mystery of Monk's murdered wife during the final episode. She felt it was "lackluster" and "rushed", as I recall.

I'll be sure to watch this whenever I get a chance.

^^^I think the mystery has been built up so much, and Monk had become so beloved, over the course of the show that no reveal was going to satisfy the fans a hundred percent; they’d painted themselves into a corner.

Of course, no reveal at all would have seen us Monk fans rioting in the streets.

I wonder if they'll acknowledge that he's OCD, or keep treating it like 'that which should not be named'.

Exactly. The print ads for the show literally referred to Monk as "Obsessive. Compulsive. Detective"

In the show itself? I don't recall them saying it once.

Sorry, I should have been clearer.

I don't recall them saying it once when he was interacting with the public.

All his OCD moments are treated as cringe behavior instead of a symptom of his issues. I remember him shaking hands with a black man, and then him and his assistant clumsily explain how he wasn't racist, instead of just paraphrashing 'It's OCD'.

Hell, most of the people around him didn't seem to know what it was.

I haven't watched every episode, mind. But I have watched a good number of them, and I don't recall seeing it once.
