Default Thoughts on the BBC Spider-Man Radio Play?

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=LYM5KLeR...ZGlvIHBsYXk%3D

It is mostly an adaptation of Spider-Man's first comic run.

    - A lot of the characters have deep accents, presumably to better hide the voice actors's actual, British accents?

    - There are some differences from the original run. Mostly in that Spider-Man's origin is a bit different, and Doctor Doom's first meeting with Spider-Man is changed, mainly in that this version of the Doctor Doom story also features Namor and FF (in the original, FF only appeared in a flashback).

    - Featured villains are Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman and Doctor Doom.

Doctor Doom and Green Goblin were pretty goofy. I liked Thing's portrayal quite a bit though.

They adapted some of the FF stories into this play.

In the end, it says the series is "to be continued", but I don't believe there had been a continuation made.

This series is designated as Earth-96115.

    I'll check it out.

They did Batman Knightfall (Quest & End) that was cool, and a Doomsday one that wasn't as good.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"

"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"

"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

There is also a theme song to it, but it's pretty bad if you ask me.

Brian May of Queen did the music, apparently.

British actors excel at multiple vocal accents ( Ronald Colman might be the best ever, Tom
Hardy one of the best today)). One of the best is Mark Rylance. He did a film called The Outfit. One of the best and most original gangster films I ever saw.

Of course, two of the three modern Spider-Man actors are British. Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. So is Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). If Brits doing fake American accents is good enough for the movies, it certainly isn't a problem on a radio play.

I see this was on BBC Radio 1... that's unusual, it's usually a music station, it's Radio 4 that usually has the audio dramas (some Doctor Who ones have aired there and they have a soap called The Archers).

Oh, I never knew this existed, and yes unusual being on Radio 1! I'll give it a listen...

I'm quite into audio plays...I'm curious to hear a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer one I keep seeing adverts for...it's on Audible which I'm not signed up to though..think it's subscription based...

Odd, tried to embed it but it showed up as a link. The Video tag is broken. I'll have to report that bug.
