Red (1962-1966) and Blue (1967-1970)
While these were compilations released three years after the band’s historic breakup, these albums (recently remastered and rereleased along with extra tracks and the last ever Beatles song, “Now & Then”) hold a special place in my heart as they were my introduction, my gateway drug to Beatlemania when I discovered the band in 1976. And I’ve been a big fan ever since.

That was my intro to the Beatles. I got the red album as a Christmas gift, and paid 30 bucks somewhere for the blue album soon after.

For a little while, I thought those were the only Beatles songs.

On some mentioned here. I would definitely say Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here for Pink Floyd. I would go with Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers for the Stones, or Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed. For the Beetles, pretty much any two albums starting with Rubber Soul. And Mets, after Sgt. Peppers there was Magical Mystery Tour.

My introduction to them was their cartoon from the '60s. They started airing reruns of it where I lived for a time not that long after they broke up. The funny thing is I never knew they were a real group until years later. So listening to my friend's Red and Blue albums of the Beatles were really my introduction to my favorite group.

Elvis Presley and Elvis were the greatest back-to-back rock 'n' roll albums of the '50s, IMO. Sinatra's Where are You? and Come Fly With Me are my picks for best non-rock from that decade.
