"The Voice" - I feel like that's already been used in a Big Two comic.

I think Antman had a villian named the Voice.

You can tell this is Golden Age Batman because Bruce is pals with Jim Gordon and is giving him rides.

But in all seriousness this really did a great job of capturing that gritty, noir, vibes of early Golden Age Batman along with a creepy threat for Bruce to face.

    Also, no Alfred!

Sassy and confrontational Julie Madison was a surprise. I wonder if she's going to appear more in this run?

Man, that's the kind of Batman story I've been waiting for. Great characterization, fast paced and great action. Why can't the main books be this good?

Batman taking clues from Lobster Johnson/John Arcudi now. I love this. When did Dan Jurgens writing improve that much?

Damn, this is easily the best thing Jurgens has written in decades.

It feels really personal, too. Like, both trying to show he's not a has-been but also has something genuine to say from life experience.

Can't wait for the next issue.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"

"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"

"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

I always say I'm sick of Batman and then they put out something like this that reminds me why the character works and how cool he can be. I'm a sucker for anything Golden Age and period pieces so I'm biased, but I really enjoyed it.

I love period pieces. I'd love to see a similar treatment for Black Canary.
