Default Frozen 4 confirmed to be in developemt

Anna and Elsa will soon be coming back in not one, but two new Frozen films.

Any studio would normally wait for box office results of the orginal film to see if it deserves a sequel.

But Disney aren't even going to wait for Frozen 3 to be released in theaters. Disney is already greenlighting the Frozen 4 project.

What if Frozen 3 will flop at the box office?

Frozen 1 and Frozen 2 have claimed the No. 3 and No. 1 slots on the list of highest-grossing animated films of all time, respectively.

EDIT: I mean 3, not 2. Super Mario claims the No. 2 slot.

I guess Disney is working off of your last statement? Even if Frozen 3 and 4 claim the 3rd and 4th slots on highest-grossing animated films of all time, they will be quite satisfied.

Disney will never let a cash cow franchise rest.

They are getting another big push in games as well.

One can tell a lot based on what characters are getting the push. Based on the current push I think they are moving back towards the core cast from the first film.

I don't think this has much to do with capitalism.

If a socialist state were producing movies, we'd still have sequels.

You mean like Strange World, Light Year, Elemental, and Wish(likely). Nah they need to try and get 7 Frozen films shot and banked before Manzel's voice goes. Elsa is 52 years old the clock is ticking for her

Despite Frozen 3 still being in early development, Frozen 4 has already been announced, indicating a tough truth about the current state of Disney's animated movies

This article confirms what you said.

The announcement of Frozen 4 alongside Frozen 3 suggests that Disney wants to stick to established franchises to ensure commercial success, rather than taking risks on new stories or characters.

Disney has had a lot of success with its animated franchises in recent years. Most notably, Toy Story remains one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time, and its continued popularity has led to confirmation of Toy Story 5 being in the works. Other Disney animated movie sequels on the way include Zootopia 2 and Inside Out 2, the latter slated for a 2024 release.

Yes, it will be amazing if Frozen 3 or 4 will top the list and beat Frozen 2 as Toy story 4 did to Toy Story 3.

2 was somewhat dumb but an argument could be made that Frozen is the last "classic" film

I think they are likely dropping the characters and plot from #2 and going back to basics which would be smart. That means the return of Hans and a re-grounding of Elsa.
