    Default FALLOUT TV show

Looks like they've got the basic look down at least (of course this is meant to be 'canon' to the games so it kind of has to-this seems to be similar to a lot of video game 'adaptations' these days-Edgerunners, the AC movie, the upcoming Tomb Raider series etc, although the Castlevania Netflix series and the Mario movie seem to be outliers).

Cautiously optimistic, I guess? I mean yeah, visually it's great. And it looks like they're adapting Fallout 3/The Capital Wasteland and the Lone Wanderer setting as a base starting point (guessing the part with nuclear detonations isn't the main era of the story). And the world-building the games has been great, so there is a lot to pull from.

Fallout isn't a linear story like, say, The Last of Us, though. So not sure if the appeal of the games translates that great to a tv show, really.

    WAlter's there, so I'm in.

Nice to know Bear and Finch survived, too.

Specifically, it looks like Fallout 4.

Which is fine, I guess, but I hope they draw elements from the Interplay fallout games. The original games.

Also, no "War Never Changes" in the trailer?

Is Nolan the showrunner? Or are they just using a lighter connection to advertise this?

I hope Ron Perlman's still in it somehow.

Ron Pearlman is the dominant reason I'm going to try it. I can't say it looks like anything other than a Mad Max riff at first blush.
I don't play video games and media has been giving us "post nuclear wasteland" variations for years. Mad Max to me is the most well done of those.

I just recently watched Twisted Metal so Apocalyptic Wasteland seems to be a strong adaptive concept of late from video games.

Fallout sort of acknowledges it has a bit of a Mad Max riff, a dog is a partner in some of the games, Max's jacket and shotgun weapon as well. The Raiders generally have a Mad Max look.

Part of FO's main appeal is that while it is post-apocalyptic the world before is an alternate history of sorts where the world's technology evolved differently so everything sort of has a weird 50's style despite having robots, lasers etc. Basically kind of retro-futuristic. The series also has a goofy 50s-style cartoon mascot who often stars in some "Edutainment"/propoganda reel cartoons.

This image helps sort of shows the tone they kind of have:

There's a radio station in the game that pretty much plays a lot of 20s-50s tunes (Bing Crosby, Cole Porter, Roy Brown, Andrews Sisters, Danny Caye etc) although a lot of them deal with the themes of the game.

Kind of wondering if Lynda Carter will make a cameo, her late husband ran Zenimax so she cameo'd and sang in 4 plus several Elder Scrolls.

Looks better than I expected tbh - but I wish it were a movie. I see NCR and a sign for Shady Sands! This show is supposed to be 15 years after FNV - does this mean the NCR ending is the canon ending for that game?

I'd assume so. Though what happened in the side quests with the more minor factions could make things interesting. Plus, there's even Lovecraftian stuff going on in multiple games. That, too, could be fun easter eggs mentioned somehow.

It's looking pretty good. A bit of a bummer that I can't imagine the melee build/playstyle showing up much, because ... well one-shotting a giant boss by stabbing them never stops being fun for me, but I can see how it would be hard to translate well to cinematic action.

I had been thinking I should finally give the gunslinger build a try though, so likely the series might inspire me to playthrough once again!
