Default Crispus Allen as the Spectre

Shouldn’t this change the whole criminal culture of Gotham if they kept Crispus as Spectre? Criminals would fear him more than Batman. And would DC have Crispus Spectre go around kill irredeemable criminals like Mr Zzasz and such?

The Spectre doesn't keep to just Gotham plus he tends to wipe peoples' memories of him (see Hal Jordan's time as Spectre for a good example of what the Spectre does) so really only the magic community knows of his existence. Also the Spectre is limited in who he can kill/punish by a higher power. There are some people he can not kill not matter how hard he wishes he could (eg, the Joker).

This was a really interesting idea that had very little chance to shine. Rucka, during his time, really set up so much for DC to fumble. Lol.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"

"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"

"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

I feel the same about Crispus as The Spectre that I do about Renee as The Question. Cool and interesting, but I prefer them as normal police.
