Candidly, the Cosmic Rod has done better than I'd have thought.

Starheart Lantern or is this thing from OA? Either way I think for the pure versatility I will choose the lantern. And probably die in some massive rainbow tinted war the next week.

Hmm, the thing you slip yourself into, or the long hard thing. Nothing Freudian here.

    Visually? The Cosmic Rod.
    Versatility? The Green Lantern Ring.

    I'm taking the Ring!

Well, actually Ted Knight's cosmic rod was really short. What you remember was Jack Knight's cosmic rod.

I remember when it was Gravity Rod. Good old Gravity Rod.

Then it was Cosmic Rod, Cosmic Converter Belt, Cosmic Staff.

I was never clear on what the Cosmic Converter Belt did, exactly. Was it just a belt-shaped Gravity Rod, or something different?

Man, Golden Age heroes had such cool toys. Sargon's Ruby of Life. TNT and Dyna-Mite's rings. Green Lantern's ring. Dr. Fate's fancy hat. Dr. Occult's weird talisman. The Gravity Rod, the Cosmic Converter Belt, etc.

Probably just so Sylvester could have both his hands free for punching.

I was always fond of the original Gravity Rod. It's abilities weren't that much different, and I rather preferred it for its limitation: it wouldn't work in daylight. I miss superheroes having constraints on what they could do and when.
