Wasn't sure if this would be part of Fall of X, but its on the cover so apparently it is.
The issue starts in with Tony and Emma in the mountains as part of a plan that Tony has but didn't let Emma in on. A spaceship with two Skrulls arrive who shapeshift into Tony and Hazel so Tony and Emma can go to space to get Mysterium without anyone realizing they're gone. Eros was also on the ship and the three of them leave to get the Mysterium.
It cuts to Ironheart sneaking into the Orchis base above earth to hijack a ship to get to the dwarves. The fleet Tony had previously mentioned is going to transport the mutants on Mars to Earth when the time comes to fight Orchis (clearly there is no communication between the two groups, or this happens after X-Men Red is done). Tony says Riri is itching for a fight with Orchis but he doesn't think he or the X-Men are ready for one and he's concerned about her use of the Mandarin rings.
Tony, Emma and Eros arrive at Gameworld (Emma still has the wig and glasses for some reason) Eros tries to flirt with Emma but she shoots him down and says its because he's and idiot. Tony and Emma will steal the Mysterium the X-Men had brought to casino while Eros provides a distraction. However when they get there space pirates are about to fight the guards as they're also trying to steal the Mysterium. Emma and Tony are initial able to take a few out with telepathy and stun darts before they get caught in the crossfire before Emma goes diamond with Tony shooting a stun beam (I don't know much about what Tony's armor as) that is refracted through Emma and ends the fight quickly. Eros arrives after the fight is done as a pregnant women who's about to give birth as the distraction. The three of them get the Mysterium and head back to Earth. Tony keeps enough Mysterium to make an armor and sent the rest with Eros to Riri.
Tony and Emma arrive at the Hellfire Club, where at least the butler/doorman was aware that this wasn't really Hazel and Tony. The female skrull says its been boring being Hazel and Emma agrees. She says they've been acting as boring rich people and gives them a news paper as proof of their services. There's an article in the Daily Bugle about "Hazel" and "Tony" skating at the Rockefeller Center with a picture of them kissing. Emma says the Skrulls did a better job they they have been. Emma and Tony go to the Rockefeller Center and talk while skating.
We cut to Riri in space on the Orchis ship. She runs into Forge who doesn't recognize her and almost blew up her Orchis ship. Riri gets annoyed that Forge has no idea how what he makes works (or at least how he's able to make them) but then is impressed he used to date Storm. Suddenly a Makluan arrives and destroys Riri's ship because it sensed the rings.
I continue to feel mixed about the book. It a vacuum its good. The art is good, I like Duggan's writing and I think the jokes are landing well. The diamond form with "lasers" is always nice when its used. The pacing of the arc feels better, but maybe that's because I'm thinking that this arc isn't going end in December (or January) but probably go until the end of Krakoa or near it. But as an Emma fan I'm disappointed as well. This is supposed to be a hard time for mutants and there was the whole "everyone's an X-Man" from Duggan in X-Men but Emma's relegated to a distant secondary character with the plot not feeling very FoX related, with her whole purpose to just enable Tony to get things.
This is probably the last Invincible Iron Man that can get posted in this forum since this should be the last of the Fall of X tie in issues (although I thought that about 12 too). That said it will probably still be X-Men related and be where Forge and Emma (hopefully not) are until Brevoort comes in.
