    Default X-Books Awards voting 2023

Another year has almost come and gone for Marvel’s mightiest mutants, and through there were great debuts, sad deaths and awesome stories told. Writers and artists both brought their best, and sometimes, their not-so-best to the table, and now it’s your chance to vote for your most (and least) favorites of 2023! This year there were not a lot of ongoings, but wow so many mini series we have rarely seen in a year. Have fun voting in the:

    X-Books voting 2023

    Voting Rules:

    • Let us not start debating each others votes, or how much we liked or dislikes everything, there are many other threads in which we can debate. Let us just vote.
    • When you miss a name/title, simply vote for them and they will be added to the overviews. No use to ask them being added, that will only happen when someone actually voted for them.
    • Exception: In the category 'Covers' there is a pre-selection list you can chose from
    • For any category, you can allocate a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place candidate for any award. 1st place nods are worth 4 points, 2nd place two points and 3rd place receives 1 point. You will have to nominate 3 per category to make your vote count. If you only submit one candidate, they will not get full scores.
    • Exception: In the category Crossovers/Events there are just a few choices, there you will see a remark 3 votes are not required.
    • When it comes time to vote, just reply to this post, delete out this opening part, and fill in the ballot below under “Categories”. Or, copy and paste the category parts below.
    • In case totals will be the same, once the voting ended, the amount first place votes will be used as a tiebreaker, should there be one.

Hero with the most outstanding performances this year
Not your general favorites, but the ones that were the best of 2023!
Who deserves to be voted the best hero of the year? Who played their roles really well this year? Was it one of the Great Ring members of planet Arokko, or the future X-Men of Sins of Sinister, or is it one of those members who got attention after a long time? It's up to you. If you have others you want to nominate, tell me who and why and I will update the list.

    Suggestions/ Voted on so far
Apocalypse (no motivation given, risk of not being counted)
    Colossus, finally stepping up
Cyclops, he was right about the Brood
Destiny for beating up Mother Righteous
    Dr. Stasis for leading Orchis
Emma Frost for actually doing something substantial against Orchis
Exodus for leading mutants through a desert wasteland
Firestar for being a spy on Orchis
Gambit killing a mind-altered Warren, saved Cap Marvel
Genesis for opposing Storm and the Brotherhood
    Hazmat (goes nucluer boom)
Hope (no motivation given, risk of not being counted)
    Iceman (handling the Brood)
Jean Grey (no motivation given, risk of not being counted)
Legion (pissed off Mother Righteous & helped NC)
Madelyne, aka Goblin Queen for stepping in to the team leader role
Mother Righteous (holding all the cards in SoS)
Mother Rightgeous for still being mysterious
Mr. Sinister for Sins of Sinister
    Nova
Rogue for saving Xavier at the very last moment
Shadowkat for actually doing something about Orchis
    Storm for leading a war
    Sunfire for saving Redroot
    Wolverine (for killing Beast)
Xavier (his confession to Doug was a breath of fresh air)

    ----

Hero with the worst performances this year
Not your general dislikes, but the ones that were the worst of 2023!
So which charecter performance did you have hated most this year?
If you have others you want to nominate, tell me who and why and I will update the list.

    Voted on so far:
    Beast, we all know why
    Captain Britain
Curse power is to literally ruin everything (plus she plain rude)
Cyclops for being a damsel in distress and doing very little this year
    Destiny, for enslaving Manifold
Emma (wig, glasses inhibitor ring and sitcom marriage
Gambit (Killed an innocent woman in a stupid gamble)
Jean Grey for destroying realities and millions of lives while dead
Magik (no motivation given, risk of not being counted)
Ms. Marvel (no motivation given, risk of not being counted)
Quiet Council, being tricked by Sinister and trusting Mother Righteous
Rasputin for being a massive flop. All those powers and all she can do is randomly antagonise the Fantastic Four.
    Rogue, for enslaving Manifold
    Talon, for doing nothing really
Typhoid Mary (no motivation given, risk of not being counted)
Shadowkat for becoming a grumpy cold-blood assassin with a stupid codename
Sebastian Shaw (if he counts as a 'hero' in this) for being a selfish piece of excrement and siding with Orchis
    Sinister, being more annoying
Storm for her lack of humility and pointing-fingers attitude
    Wolverine for being Beast's toy
Xavier- being manipulated and got everyone scattered around

Did you just love the return of the villains of the past, like the Mesmero or Mikhail, or did you like to see the baddies from Orchis coursing trouble? Azazel
    Captain Krakoa
    Children of the Vault
    Count Nefaria
    Doc Barrington
    Doctor Stasis
    Feilong

The same list applies for the worst villains performance if you choose to vote in that category

    Breakout Star of the Year
Choose three characters who are long time X-characters who you feel made the jump from the C or D-List, to the forefront, skirting the edge of, had exciting focus, or development, or possibly joining the ranks of the A-List of Marvel’s Mutants. Think Sunspot or Nekra of last year. Was it one of the War Collage kids, or someone within Sins of Sinister?

Please mind that A-listers don't break out, they are suppose to be front and center. Who gets the Rising Star Award this year? Please Note: A character returning from death or limbo, should be in the Comeback category.

    Suggestions:
    Amass
    Exodus
    Firestar
    Galura
    Hope
    Karma
    Kobak Never-Held
    Loolo (in Sins of Sinister)
Madelyne Pryor - Goblin Queen of Limbo
    Mother Righteous
    Mr. Sinister
    Ms. Marvel
    Sunfire
    Sunspot
    Tempo

    Debut Character of the Year
Choose three characters who had their first appearance in a comic book in 2023, that you feel as a result, have a big future in the X-verse. Did the cruel Irae in the Magneto mini make a great debut, or did you prefer one of unofficial X-Men or the Latverian mutants appealed the most to you? As mentioned before, if you have other nominees, just vote for them and I will of course add them to this list.

    Nominees:
    Aphellion (Unofficial X-Men)
    Auntie Fortune
    Bad Guy (Unofficial X-Men)
    Blowback (Trevor)
    Dreamer, Hugo (Latveria mutant)
    Faceshopper (Unofficial X-Men)
    Good Arson (Unofficial X-Men)
    Harmonize (Unofficial X-Men)
    Haymaker (X-23, Deadly Reg)
    Irae (Magneto mini)
    Ironcloak, Romona (Latveria mutant)
    Jon Ironfire
    Jun Wei (Orchis)
    Kafka (War College, Immortal X-Men)
    Lycaon Two Wolves
    Mojo Junior (Unlimited)
    Nerium (Latveria mutant)
    Orc (Apocalypse's blue demon)
    Pity Girl (Unofficial X-Men)
Sentinel Zero (the one with Logan's claws, Orchis)
