    Tami for those variations
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

As much credit as the Challs get for being an FF inspiration, the existence of Cave Carson, Rip Hunter, and Dale Dorrence and their teams consisting of a scientist, his brawny buddy, the scientist's girl friend, and a pesky kid who in two of the three cases was the GF's little brother are the FF roster.

Thinking about it, You're right and there's the Sea Devils, the Atomic Knights and probably a few other groups I'm not thinking of right now that fit as well. "The Five Swell Guys" from Alan Moore's Promethea were a homage to this archetype. Heck now I'm thinking Lost in Space, Jules Vernes...

Let's not forget Rocky Jones, Space Ranger....a popular mid-1950s TV serial that inspired a comic book version that ran for a few issues in the Charlton sci-fi comic Space Adventures in 1955. Does the composition of this assemblage look familiar?

Once again, I’m surprised by the wealth of knowledge available from the regulars of this game. Thanks folks.
