    Default Regional Fast Food Places

Growing up in Iowa, there were always places mentioned in movies and such that I had never experienced. Things like...

    Jack in the Box
    White Castle
    In and Out (west coast)
    Whataburger (south)

None of these are in Iowa. I've also only seen one Sbarro pizza (only learning it was famous elsewhere by its reference on The Office)

Where I'm from, specifically, in Des Moines, we have two very local chains called B-Bop's burgers and Tasty Tacos, both of which I firmly recommend if you ever pass through. Not to even mention Casey's gas station pizza.

Any others I should know about on my travels?

Everyone deserves a chance to experience the beauty that is a White Castle slider. Hope you get yours.

I’m from NYC, we have Shake Shack which is also really good for burgers and milkshakes. I’d give it the slight edge over In-N-Out, but In-N-Out’s fries are in a league of their own.

If you see a Five Guys location in your travels, by all means, give it a try. Their burgers are flat out fantastic, ditto for their fries.

Five Guys is great. I think they're pretty much everywhere by now, though.

Fatburger is really good too, if you're in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. (They have a handful of other locations, but that's where most of them are, I believe).

And apparently, Roy Rogers still exits, mostly in Maryland. I can't vouch for the current quality, but last I did have it the roast beef is better than Arby's and the fried chicken (made with cornflakes if I remember) was better than KFC (which was still good at the time).

Fatburger in LA is great. At least it was in the 80s the last time I had one.

In NY there is a small local chain named Golden Krust that makes excellent Jamaica Patties,.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

When I lived in Albuquerque New Mexico there was a burger place called Lotta Burger. because you got a Lotta Burger for a little money. The Lotta Burger was pretty much a rip off of the Whopper.

We’ve had Shake Shack here in Philly for years. In fact, the location in downtown is literally right around the corner from a comic book shop I regularly frequent.

I think that Southridge Mall used to have a Sbarros in its food court, and yeah Casey's pizza is good, in fact I used to work at my local Casey's back in the late 90s.

My favorites in my area were:

    Mr. Gatti's pizza
    Novrozsky's hamburgers
    Hamburger Depot
    Shakie's Pizza
    Southern Maid Donuts
