For me, the 2 biggest highlights were Magik's letter to the Quiet Council in New Mutants #18 and her interactions with her past child self in issue 27. What great moments of genuine character development.

I love the way they laid the groundwork and foreshadowed his coming rise to prominence as the next big central figure of the franchise in the upcoming era. It was a masterclass in subtlety, done with such a deft light touch I bet 99.9% of readers never even realized it was there!

I think ine thing they did well was give a lot of cameos to mutants that are easily forgotten. ForgetMeNot, Stitch, Choir and more. Might have been only a panel here or there but we knew they were not forgotten. Also I found Fisk being added to the mix as interesting, I feel we almost see a different side of Fisk then we normally see.

I overall love the Krakoan era. I imagine the start will be stronger than the finish though. In many ways Hickman's HoX/PoX is single greatest accessible X-Story - if someone just wants to read one X-Men book its hard to argue another. It started with a bang - I was anticipating a Fantastic Four/Future Foundation & Avengers/New Avengers solid and more complete run than delivered; I even preached my hope he would return to close the Krakoan era, but alas no.

Overall I think this era refreshed a dying franchise. I think it gave mutants a real event to rebuild themselves within the MU and allowed the creators to dive into more sidelined characters. I wish there were more society building aspects shown in the book as opposed to just more super heroics but it was still engaging and fun. I wanted to know what would happen and that was something I hadn't felt for awhile. Here's to great fun!
