Letitia James says company that put up Trump's $175 million bond may not have enough funds

New York Attorney General Letitia James has asked Judge Arthur Engoron to void the $175 million bond in Donald Trump's civil fraud judgment, citing concerns that the bond company doesn't have the funds.

In a filing on Friday, James said Knight Specialty Insurance Company, which underwrote Trump's bond, has not been able to show that it has enough collateral to back it. She described KSIC as "a small insurer that is not authorized to write business in New York and thus not regulated by the state’s insurance department," and said the company had never written a surety bond in New York or in the past two years in any other jurisdiction.

James’ office is seeking to have Trump put up a replacement bond within seven days of a ruling. A hearing is set for Monday.

I think major media should refrain from sharing his conspiracy theories. From what I’ve read, I don’t know how this isn’t a case of mental illness, diagnosed or not. Quite sad.

This is a difficult story to cover, because we don't want copycats. I'm a bit worried that the coverage of the guy who did the same thing about Gaza led to this lunatic following suit. Are others going to think this is a way to be heard?

There is also a desire to know what he believed in order to determine if anyone should be blamed for misleading him. Some Trump fans were eager to suggest he's probably far-left, and Trump detractors were eager to say he was driven nuts by right-wing media.

If they can't cover the bond, that should logically invalidate things. That 'bias' would be involved is of course Trump's go-to if the facts contradict his story.

If only stiffer penalties were a deterrent. These people believe they’re somehow liberating the country from tyranny and some think it’s a holy crusade. It doesn’t help that Trump is showing approval of their ideas by promising to pardon all the “political prisoners” and “patriots” of Jan 6. He’s messaging that they should use violence to overturn democratic institutions and there will be no consequences, in fact they’ll be considered heroes.

Speaking of crying bias, Fox News have been repeatedly criticizing the jurors in the NY trial, saying ridiculous things like "that juror wears a purple jacket!", as if that was a red flag

You are talking like that violence has nothing to do with The United States.

If said violence is an element of a black market based on illegal drug sales, is The United States not the bulk of the market for those illegal drugs?

You want to talk about at least starting to work towards starting to potentially solve those problems?

You've got to at least be able to admit to yourself that America just being America drives a lot of what creates those problems.

Which would be a hell of a lot more than Qpublicans are willing to do.

Possibly because not only is the US bringing in a lot of drugs we're also illegally exporting a lot of guns to drug cartels and paramilitary organizations in South American countries. Of course, Republicans are the hand puppets of the NRA and gun manufacturers who profit on the front end and lobby to defund the ATF and hinder laws that might prevent crooked gun dealers from illegally selling weapons to smugglers.

The rest of the story is that Republicans also make political hay from ginning up fear in the US of domestic drug gangs and supposed criminals crossing the border to rob and kill us all. Gun dealers and manufacturers also profit by selling more guns to citizens seeking protection from the people who are coming here to get away from the violence created in their own countries with the weapons illegally smuggled from the US.

Just a reminder that Greene made a name for herself among conservatives by espousing the Sandy Hook conspiracy theories of Alex Jones and publically harassing the child survivors who spoke out against the NRA and 2nd Amendment. She would actually follow them down the street and make videos of her calling them traitors and asking them how much they were paid to lie.
The woman is a disgusting animal and would never be elected to a sane, ethical political party.

If anyone has read the NY Times , its become a comedy show of trying to find actual jurors who don't hate Trump's f'n guts. Because the social media posts these folks have made , have been a comedy show. From one juror being asked if they called Trump a no good sh-t goblin back a few years ago as judge read... "Yep...if i wrote it , I meant it..." the juror replied. To others being questioned over calling him trash and more. lol

The funniest was that of a parody from 2020 where the Avengers are seen (with Democrats imposed as faces) being posted on one persons husbands twitter. It was pretty funny to see mentioned.


If this doesn't make a SNL sketch this weekend , there is no justice.
