Admitting that his party has a Nazi problem that everyone but themselves can see - based on them saying, doing, acting like, hanging out with, playing defense for, empowering, and giving platforms to literal Nazis, neo-Nazis, and people who just are cool with Nazi rhetoric if it gets them power and money - would mean that he’s wasted a decade or more of his life defending a party led, and populated by, people who think Hitler had some good ideas.
I’m sure there’s some people who’ll whine about ‘erasing history’ or ‘leftist censorship’. But call me silly, or touchy, or a ‘leftist extremist’, but those people are idiots, and their opinions don’t matter. If you aided and/or abetted genocide - deliberately, willingly, ‘under orders’ or accidentally, I don’t care what else you do with your life. You deserve to carry the stain of supporting or breaking bread with genocidal madmen on you, wherever you go for the rest of your life, and should not receive ANY sort of honors.
Ever.
And if you whine about someone who aided and abetted a genocide getting their honors stripped from them, posthumously? You need to take a long, hard look at yourself.
Frankly, I like the Inglorious Basterds method of letting Nazis escape Justice: carve a swastika into their foreheads and let EVERYONE know what sort of person they’re dealing with for the rest of their lives.
