Law is going into effect regarding protective orders.

If you get an order of protection against Bazooka Joe, the police are supposed to impound any registered guns Bazooka Joe has in under forty-eight hours.

Hard to tell how much of an impact it will have, but it seems like step in the right direction.

From what I caught, state law/Illinois.

    Edit:

Must have come in part of the way through. Seems they are attempting to pass the law in question.

"Karina's Bill" supporters urge lawmakers to help protect domestic violence victims
Groups fighting gun violence made a plea Wednesday morning for Illinois lawmakers to pass a bill that would require police to remove firearms from a home under specific orders of protection in domestic violence cases.

The bill is named in honor of Karina Gonzalez, who was shot and killed in July by her husband. He also killed Gonzalez's 15-year-old daughter, Daniela.

They were shot and killed in Little Village, even though Karina had an order of protection that could have led to the removal of his gun by law enforcement.

"We should not need to have to stand here today to convince the people elected to serve us that it is time to protect women from domestic violence gun deaths,' said Yolanda Androzzo, executive director of the anti-gun-violence group One Aim Illinois.

Supporters of Karina's Bill said several recent shootings in Illinois show the need for firearms removal to be part of violence protection for domestic violence survivors when they get a court to issue an order of protection.

At least with Manchin there is the fact that he is the best option from the pool of West Virginia. I'll accept a closet Republican from a deep red state, but that doesn't describe New Jersey.

A Texas man is suing after he said he was wrongfully arrested and assaulted in jail due to the use of artificial intelligence.

When the 61-year-old man went to a DMV to renew his license in Gonzales, Texas, he didn’t realize he would be leaving in handcuffs. His arrest was in connection to an armed robbery — one that occurred when he was on the other side of the country.

    The robbery
On Jan. 22, 2022, a Sunglass Hut in Houston was robbed by two armed men. The men stole thousands of dollars from the store, according to a lawsuit.

During the robbery, the men ordered two employees into a back room and told them to stay there so they could get away, court records say.

As police were investigating, they got a call from a loss prevention employee with EssilorLuxottica, which is Sunglass Hut’s parent company. The employee told police they “could stop their investigation because he found their guy,” the lawsuit said.

The employee said he worked with Macy’s loss prevention using artificial intelligence and facial recognition software to identify the suspect as the 61-year-old man, the lawsuit said.

McClatchy News reached out to EssilorLuxottica and Macy’s for comment but did not immediately hear back.

EssilorLuxottica and Macy’s took a video from the robbery and used it to determine the man was one of the robbers, and police put out a warrant for his arrest, court records said.

However, the man had an alibi at the time of the robbery. He was 2,000 miles away in California, according to his lawyer.

Still, he was arrested with no idea what was going on.

“All he knew was he was being transported to the Harris County Jail because of a felony arrest warrant,” court documents said.

I met her once, and she was a little on the cold side ,as if doing Political Campaigning for Phil Murphy was a chore.

Personally, I already know that I am going to vote for Andy Kim.
Andy Kim seems to be the heavy favorite.

He played it very well, calling for Menendez to resign and then reluctantly challenging him, because what third-term congressman wants to be a Senator?

He seems to have a much better story than Tammy Murphy, and looks better on paper. An Asian-American congressman in his early 40s adds more diversity than a rich white woman, and his resume is decent (three terms in Congress, worked before that as a national security advisor for the state department.)

Tammy Murphy has corrupt friends, which is probably the biggest problem. There was a story last week about a youth coordinator for the Democratic State Committee suggesting that if student groups don't endorse her, it may affect their job prospects as well as funding for the college Democrats.

When you read this, it's kind of hilarious.

The guy basically says 'Yeah, because we've chatted as friends for a long time, I'm terrified of what she will reveal next so I'm bowing out.'

The question has now become, 'My dude, what is it that she could reveal, about which you chatted as friends, that could possibly have you so terrified?'

Just watching on CNN International: The US economy grew at a much faster rate than expected in the fourth quarter, with GDP growth at 3.3%. They say the growth is driven by "everyday Americans" who have more to spend in their pockets, and more confidence in still having a job tomorrow.

Prosecutors say Jan. 6 defendant, convicted of manslaughter in Iraq, poses new danger

Prosecutors say the FBI discovered an assault rifle and 73 rounds of ammunition in a Jan. 6 defendant’s closet — even though he had been barred from owning firearms as a result of a 2005 conviction for shooting an Iraqi civilian in the head.

Justice Department officials pointed to the discovery Wednesday in a bid to immediately lock up the defendant, Louisiana resident Edward Richmond Jr., while he awaits trial on charges that he wielded a metal baton against police at the Capitol while donning tactical gear. They say Richmond is both dangerous to those around him and at risk of attempting to flee ahead of his criminal proceedings.
The case is among the most unusual Jan. 6 in the government’s sprawling three-year investigation, which has netted more than 1,250 arrests that have included dozens of current and former members of the military.

Richmond, was court-martialed and convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 2004 for shooting an unarmed, handcuffed Iraqi cowherd in the back of the head. He was sentenced to three years in military confinement for the crime. Prosecutors say that as a result of his conviction, Richmond was not permitted to own firearms — and that he’s likely to face federal charges for the AR-15 that FBI agents discovered in his closet.
    Talk about red flags everywhere.

But what about how bad the economy is for average Americans. We need more and more stories that find someone not doing well to tell us "the voters" don't like what Biden is doing.

Tammy Murphy’s dishonest attack on Tom Malinowski | Moran

We know that First Lady Tammy Murphy was a Republican for most of her adult life, that she switched parties at age 49, only after her husband decided to run for governor as a Democrat.

But it came as a surprise on Wednesday to see her resurrect the most dishonest Republican attack from last year’s election campaign and use it to smear former Rep. Tom Malinowski, a widely admired Democrat.

She owes Malinowski and his supporters an apology. By sinking so quickly into the gutter, Murphy is signaling that she’s afraid of a U.S. Senate campaign focused on issues and qualifications, perhaps with good reason. It is a revealing moment, another act of bullying from the machine candidate in this race.
The attack came one day after Malinowski endorsed Murphy’s leading opponent, Rep. Andy Kim, his colleague in Congress for two terms, calling Kim “far and away the best qualified, most experienced person” in the race.

Instead of accepting Malinowski’s verdict with grace, or answering him on the substance, Murphy launched a personal attack, suggesting that Malinowski profited by trading stocks while he was in Congress. If that sounds familiar, it’s because that charge was at the heart of GOP Rep. Tom Kean Jr.’s campaign against Malinowski last year.

That charge is baseless, but Murphy picked it up this week for another run.
April Fools is coming up soon, bet WBE has her on the list this year.
