It's more about a lack of temperament and basic competence.
Trump was afraid of the generals. More militarily action would mean dealing with people who made him feel weak and ignorant.

The campaign season is really ramping up. I swear I have been getting so many political calls and the door knockers are out in force. I generally don't answer the door guys, but this was a democrat and I happened to be near the door. I was like keep fighting the good fight I def will not be voting for the GOP so go try and get the Trump supporters next door. But good luck with that.

The rules of Canvasing as I now them

    1. First go after the people, the potential voters that you already know are most likely to vote for your candidate or candidates. Do this to increase voter turn out, to make sure that the know how important it is that they vote,, and that they know when and where to go to vote.

    2. Second, go after the voters who don't vote regularly, the potential swing voters, and the undecideds. Make sure that they know who is running for office, and encourage them to come out and vote.

    3. As much as it is about reaching out to voters, it is also about data. Every contact is a source of data; were you able to speak with them, will they vote, will they vote for your candidate, thins lie that.

Oklahoma GOP votes to censure Lankford over Senate border talks

The Oklahoma Republican Party approved a resolution Saturday condemning and censuring Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) for his role as a chief negotiator in the Senate border security talks between Democrats and Republicans.

The resolution — a copy of which was posted on X, formerly Twitter — by state Sen. Dusty Deevers (R) said, “Senator Lankford playing fast and loose with Democrats on our border policy not only disfranchises legal immigrants seeking citizenship but it also puts the safety and security of Americans in great danger.”

Senate negotiators have been working for weeks to negotiate a compromise on border and immigration policy that is meant to address the number of migrants who come across the U.S. border with Mexico.
Lankford on Sunday took to the political news shows to defend his work on the negotiations but was not asked about the resolution.

“It is interesting, Republicans, four months ago, would not give funding for Ukraine, for Israel and for our southern border because we demanded changes in policy. So we actually locked arms together and said, ‘We’re not going to give money for this. We want a change in law,'” he said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“And now, it’s interesting, a few months later, when we’re finally getting to the end, they’re like, ‘Oh, just kidding, I actually don’t want a change in law because of presidential election year,'” he added.
The audacity of this guy trying to get the border deal that GOP have been saying is imminent threat to humanity over here. They are just beyond ridiculous. The thing is it doesnt even register with their voters. All day long everyday right wing media squawking in their ears about the migrant waves coming to kill them in the grocery store, steal their jobs, take half their paychecks, sneeze dangerous diseases on their kids.

Its a crisis, Dems want the open borders! Then some people actually try to make a deal and get some policy rather than endless fearmongering and rhetoric. Nope nope we need that endless fearmongering we can't have "fixes" or actual policy Trump needs it to run on!

More proof (as if we needed any more) that the GOP is in thrall to Trump. The bill, from my understanding, would have given Republicans nearly everything they were asking for on the border, but a few words from their aggrieved Antichrist and not only do they kill what they originally wanted, they censure the lead negotiator for daring to try and get them what they were asking for a week ago. Insane doesn't even begin to describe it.

The GQP is desperate to regain the power they lost after the 2020 election, and they know Trump is their only chance to achieve that goal. To that end, they had no choice but to torpedo that deal in order to keep him placated. Yeah, it’s certainly cray-cray.

It’s less a political party and more of a cult everyday.

If Trump loses I would not be surprised if MAGA suicide bombers become a thing.

Joe Manchin could upend Biden’s reelection campaign – and blow up No Labels along the way

Sen. Joe Manchin says he “absolutely” can see himself as president.

Privately, the West Virginia Democrat has told people that a Joe Biden health scare or a Donald Trump conviction could give him an opening to run as an independent this year.

In public, during stops in states such as New Hampshire, South Carolina and Georgia, Manchin says he believes there’s a role for him as a national icon in the “fiscally responsible and socially compassionate” middle, comparable with the role Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders plays for the progressive left.

If Manchin runs, he would want to do so using state ballot lines being secured by No Labels, a bipartisan group that has asserted itself as the answer for a political moment in which voters keep telling pollsters they don’t want a Biden-Trump rematch and are exhausted by the political tribalism. The group has set a mid-March deadline to decide whether to back a presidential “unity ticket,” but with about a month and half to go and amid internal turmoil, multiple top No Labels leaders tell CNN they remain in the dark about the path forward.
    Oh boy.....

Does Manchin seriously not realize how many people despise him?
And does he think he wouldn't get torn to shreds in a debate let alone any 'town hall' meetings?

    I wonder the same thing.

Democrats hate him because he watered down or killed so many progressive bills. Republicans hate him because he didn't side with them 100% of the time. Independents hate him for either being too liberal or too conservative, depending on how they feel about certain issues. He's not running again because he knows the people in his own state will vote against him for whatever Republican candidate runs.

So what possible path does he see to the Presidency? Or is he hoping to draw enough votes away from Biden to get Trump elected, and perhaps get a nice ambassadorship out of it?

He completely unleashed the drone war that Obama was criticized for, and removed all accountability and transparency from it. Biden all but ended the drone wars and restored transparency, but got no credit for it from the people who now accuse him of genocide.
