The DCAU was great like that. I mean, where else could you get a serious Biblical allegory likening Superman, of all heroes, to Lucifer, i.e. "I thought you were like an angel sent to answer our prayers, but then . . . Lucifer was an angel, too, wasn't he?" Not to mention, from your clip here, this is pretty much the true origin of Batman Beyond, or what inspired Amanda Waller to try to recreate Batman in the future.

What people forget is that Johnny Quest was made by Hanna-Barbera and was Prime-Time next to the Flintstones and the Jacksons. Then the FCC came in because Parent groups didn't like Thundarr The Barbarian. That caused the slow death of the Saturday Morning Cartoon. But now the internet is out, the death of the Saturday Morning Cartoon means nothing. I don't mind the making of kids' cartoons and all, but we need other types of cartoons as well.

OK, the original 92 X-Men cartoon had a Japanese opening. Plus the series got pretty serious at times.

That's not the only thing about the original X-Men 92 to 97 TV series. Many of the writers from Exosquad would work on both X-Men and Exosquad until Exosquad was canceled in 94. And I mean a ton of X-Men writers. Even the late Michael Edens, who was the head writer of Exosquad for season one and then showrunner for season two, would later write for X-Men, apparently writing a few Award-winning X-Men EPs. Sadly he died of cancer not that long ago regretting not finishing Exosquad's storylines.

On a side note, Universal may have canceled Exosquad due to a Lawsuit between FASA and Playmates. Meaning Universal may have hit the Panic button when there was nothing to Panic over. But Jeff Segal and Michael Edens were fired anyway and Exosquad was canceled.

Samurai Jack would be my next choice, especially the fifth & final season (T_T)

I've really enjoyed The Dragon Prince so far.

I've never seen Avatar, but this has made me curious.

for all the goofiness and dated graphics, when Reboot hit, it hit hard.

They took a good kid and put him through the meat grinder to end up as a hardened warrior.

I will put the fight between megabyte and matrix as one of the best of all times in raw feels.

If we can count anime I'll go with Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig.

New newer ones aren't terrible but they simply aren't in the same class on any level.

If you going to bring up Samurai Jack may as well bring Primal into this.

Dude! If anime qualifies, then anything Gundam should be at the top of the list (IMHO):
