I love this pairing so much. I hope some variant of it will be featured in any upcoming live-action movie about Val, assuming that is still on the table.

I had no idea that was Karen/Powergirl in the pic until you pointed it out. I swear her body is now that of a completely generic female superhero with none of the muscles mixed with curves we were used to. I guess they've decided to downgrade her formerly unique look along with her formerly dynamic personality and intriguing backstory on Earth (running her own company, etc), damn....

In other words, this is like trying to tell us Jaime Reyes and Ted Kord are the same character (Blue Beetle) and not two distinct characters who share the same name. They didn't kill Karen- they just removed her from existence and are now telling us this totally different Power Girl is the one that always existed.

I have an inkling why they did this. I suspect they felt Karen/Powergirl was "too sexy" so they had to sanitize her "problematic" image. Sadly, modern third-wave feminism has little if any room for strong independent sex-positive female characters.

This is a very long analysis video and Vaush is not everyone's cup of tea, but, the video does a great job explaining the difference between a sexy female power fantasy character and one who is simply eye candy for the male gaze.
