Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

Yes, Luke started out way back in issue #17, right after Valkyrie left in the search for her past. He helped them out very much during the early 20's issues, being one of the ones who saved Valkyrie from being executed on TV while trussed up on an inverted cross by the Sons of the Serpent. Luke then helped out again majorly when Val was missing (actually being jailed) for destroying a "posh-penthouse restaurant while fighting a monster with her sword". All Excellent issues!

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Hank as a Defender. Back when the team was closer to its classic lineup, I thought Iceman would be a good member. I didn't like, however, that they were trying to make this into an X-Men lite team with issue #125. Don't hold that era in very high regard.
"Non team" remember. Anyone who helps is a member pre new defenders. Says right in that story. Blame marvel and dr strange for setting up that dumb rule. Makes defenders one of the most confusing member list teams ever! Ever hero or bad guy that aids the team pre new defenders is a member with that rule!Yeah, I don't think I can do Defenders For a Day on the roster... maybe just a pic from the issue.
Hmmmm. I just don't think of those guys as Defenders. But let me see what I can do.
Thats why new defenders threw that rule away.

The Defenders for a Day fit in to their own category, so I wouldn't include them for all of the other non-members. I was pretty thrilled to see Havok and Polaris show up. Wish they had stayed since they were rarely appearing in X-Men.
I don't think that was a very popular team.
Clea did show up when Strange wasn't around, like The Order and Fearless Defenders, IIRC. I clearly need to do a re-read of the Defenders, cause I really don't remember Cage that much.
Defenders For a Day was a great fun idea, but it really is it's own thing, that highlighted all the unused superheroes.
Technically, almost everyone would be a Defender -- which is kind of what Strange did in Secret Defenders. Just grabbed up whoever to fight the current crisis. And that's how the original founders treated it, I think.

I honestly haven't followed closely Thor or the Valkyries since ... well the God Butcher arc. I think, like most of Marvel now, they might have made a big of a mess with Asgard and its cast. And it wasn't like Val had the cleanest background before that. Regardless, I do wish we could get some version of the old school Val back.

This was posted in one of the older threads ... someone made a custom Defenders deck for themselves in the Marvel Legendary Card Game. It's pretty cool, and each card has art and stats and powers.
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/150...sion-203-cards
They came up with a basic roster of ten, plus they made a Defender for a Day deck of 35 + the basic 10 for a total of 45.
The basic Defenders Roster:
Black Knight, Nighthawk, Hellcat, Son of Satan, Valkyrie, Clea, Dr. Strange, Namor, Hulk, Silver Surfer
Defenders for a Day Stack:
Angel, Beast, Black Goliath, Captain Marv-ell, Captain Ultra, Clea, Daredevil, Devil Slayer, Falcon, Gargoyle, Havok, Hawkeye, Hercules, Howard the Duck, Ice Man, Iron Fist, Jack of Harts, Luke Cage, Marvel Man (Quasar), Moon Dragon, Moon Knight, Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers), Namorita, Nova, Paladin, Polaris, Professor X, Prowler, Red Guardian, Spider-Man, Stingray, Tagak the Leopard Lord???, Thing, Torpedo, White Tiger,
Okay, WHO is this guy?
Oh, and extra kudos for including this card, as a Bystander. lol

I hope that Blue Marvel can be part of the new Defenders whenever a new series or mini series comes out. If Doc Strange, Hulk, Sub-Mariner and Silver Surfer can be part of it too, cool.
My hope for 2024 (and going forward) is that Marvel settles down and gives us a set team with 2-3 "founding" members with an equal number of new faces that stay with the team through a good 24-36 issue run.
Let's also give the team a purpose. Something like protecting the Earth and "contiguous" dimensions from extradimensional threats. This alliance would include "sister" dimensions like Avalon, the Dark Dimension, at least one Nether dimension, the Asgardian realms, etc.
Naturally, the members of the team would be representatives of those dimensions. Something like...
Valkyrie (Asgard)
Clea (Dark Dimension)
Blue Marvel (Neutral Zone)
Hulk (The Realm Below All)
The Green Knight or Violet Swan or Lionheart (Avalon/Otherworld)
Andromeda (Atlantis/ mainstream Earth)
Etc., etc.
