I think writers just liked that dynamic, and wanted to write that in since it was interesting to explore. It made sense for the time since Hal was neither good nor bad and they needed a character to be the doubting Bruce. Thankfully it's either gone or reduced to a simmer by now. I enjoy how it changed so that Batman just doesn't vibe with Hal's brash, improvisational tactics and Hal isn't impressed by Batman's schtick. That still makes sense and fits both characters, but is no longer based on "ET" or "ZH."

I think this was also the last time Johns wrote Hal? Really weird thing to write as your last story for the character.

That was odd. The same man who had Hal knock out Batman used Hal to prop up Batman in an issue meant to honor GL.

I bet the comic the story would have been solid if Hal called his brothers, or Tom.

Heads up Steve Rude (Nexus) will be doing his annual art book for 2024.

He has two covers and this year's B cover is Hal Jordan.

How exactly did he tap into the red lantern energy?

To paraphrase Holly McClain nee Genero, "Only Hal could make someone pissed off enough to turn their yellow ring into red."

(we don't really know though - unless Adams thinks the rings are like mood rings where it manifests the color of your emotion if it's strong enough...?)

I've been saying since this series started, I want to see how the earth Lanterns reacted to the change in leadership and their new assignments, etc. Looks like we'll be getting that, so I'm already happy. Now we just need to see how this leads to Kilowog's death, Sinestro's role in it and why this made Hal quit the Corps.

I do find it odd that the UP decided to quarantine 2814 because of another Crisis event. Those events threaten the universe - it's not like some localized nonsense where the UP said, "just let them fight amongst themselves - we're needed elsewhere."

I do find it funny how they said "they've got the Kryptonian, what do they need Green Lanterns for?" .

I wonder if they assign Guy to take down Sinestro and that leads to the fight on New Korugar.

Personally, I'm glad they never went this way with Hal - either the child or sidekick.
I can see Hal having a kid. But to add some twist, it's with Olivia Reynolds. And the kid inherits the Ergono of Olivia.
