Those kids are from the New Champions variant covers, they're meant to be forgotten child/teen heroes like Spider-Boy. So I don't know what his codename will be but that is supposed to be a new member of the Marvel Family.

Sidenote, it's funny that that cover is by Todd Nauck, as he also drew the Stargirl: The Lost Children series which introduced a similar group of lost sidekicks over at DC.

The Captain Marvel family is already too large as it is.

Hell, Alyssa Wong forgot to use everyone in the latest issue. Carol summons everyone in her and Yuna's families. Given that Phyla was included, as well as Genis's negaband partner Rick Jones, why weren't Monica and Kamala called in? They're not connected to the Kree (not directly anyway - the Kree are connected to the origin of the Inhuman gene), but they should still count as part of Carol's found family. I can understand forgetting about Ultra Girl, but the characters actually currently getting used elsewhere, there's no excuse for.

Wong didn't forget anyone. The ritual required every member of their BLOOD families. Monica and Kamala being part of the "Marvel family" would not help them in any way since they are not related by blood, just like there was no need to call in Phyla's wife Moondragon -- not a blood relative; not relevant to the ritual.

Carol herself isn't blood related to Phyla and Hulkling either... it was definitely the Marvel Family, not the Danvers Family.

Kamala left for greener pastures. Sure, there is an in universe reason for the absence but the character always had a mercenary nature. Originally was supposed to be a Mutant, but at the time that was off limits so was linked to the next big thing in The Inhumans but then bounced to Captain Marvel in the midst of her big push. When that didn't work out she then went to the Spider-Man books. She made sure her death had the most attention, but didn't even have the common courtesy to call Carol (her supposed mentor) ahead of time to set something up. She bounced when the X-MEN finally became available for comics and movies. Given the popularity of X-Men 97 I have no doubt that she will eventually turn up there for an episode or two through the magic of time travel. Kamala and Carol will still interact during the occasional company crossover but that's about it. You have to accept that the two characters are pretty much done professionally, but Kamala is grateful for the doors Carol opened for her.

You realise that Carol was herself previously associated with the X-Men, right? Just because Kamala is one now doesn't mean she'll never work with Carol again.

Carol? hmm.... Carol Campbell? Carol Hines

Yeah, there's THAT many X-Men characters.

Carol Campbell would actually be an interesting character to have return.... She's a pyrokinetic... but didn't have proper control of her powers.

I didn't say she wouldn't. Just don't be surprised if the next time they meet Kamala is wearing a green costume and calling herself "Miss Rogue" or "Roguette" Have to tap into what's popular.

Phyla and Hulkling were already there -- they were not called in for the ritual. But there actually IS a genetic link between Carol and Phyla and Hulkling due to some of Mar-Vell's genetic pattern being imprinted onto her by the Psyche-Magnitron blast. Unless that got retconned out somewhere along the way when they made Carol's mom a Kree--but I don't recall them ever explicitly retconning that detail out, since it was what accounted for Carol having some Kree military knowledge (back in her Ms. Marvel days) that was transferred into her brain from the genetic imprinting from Mar-Vell. We now know the Psyche-Magnitron activated Carol's own latent Kree genes, but as far as we know it still also imprinted some of Mar-Vell's genetic pattern onto her as well.

She's actually already been shown once in a green costume - that of Captain Krakoa. Which would make her a Cyclops legacy! It was in Rise of the Powers of X #1, set in the future. But I don't see Kamala switching her codename any time soon in the main continuity, she'll remain associated with Carol's former iconography.
