Really curious than the writer (or the editor?) went for make Carol go for the Warbird codename, even if it is a story set in the future. A change of clothes is more acceptable than a change of name.

I would guess its' because someone else is using the name. That new outfit, though, doesn't work for me. Very generic.

Yeah - maybe Kamala took her previous name again, or Monica took the Captain Marvel name back? Or the resurrection protocols could've been used to bring back Mar-Vell. All sorts of possibilities.

I saw it as Carol wanting to go scorched Earth on ORCHIS and not wanting to stain the CM legacy with killing, if she had to do it. But that's my take.

I really dont think there's an specific reason for it other than the writer wanted to show an AR Carol and a different codename adds to the premise that this is a different Carol

Well, not sure that would be needed. Hazmat was part of the Avengers Initiative stuff. Captain America AFAIK met most if not all of them.
